Historia
In the aftermath of the Chemical Wars, nature has reclaimed humanity's infrastructure. This world, lush with life - yet dangerously uninhabitable for mankind - houses the remaining population that ekes out an existence in quarantined cities anchored off the mainland. David S. Sparks awakens into the chaos of this future world, unsure of his place in a reality wildly different from his fragmented memories. As the desire to retake the planet swells, so too does the question of how. Will the same mistakes be repeated? And what is David Sparks' role in it all?

It’s the narrator
Revisado: 08-02-23
I feel bad rating this so low, but I don’t think I’m going to finish this. I’ve tried to listen to it more than once and I thought maybe I just wasn’t in the mood, but I think it’s the narrator that I can’t get into. I wish it was better because I feel like a jerk rating an indie book so low.

Historia
Nine people gather at a remote health resort. Some are here to lose weight, some are here to get a reboot on life, some are here for reasons they can’t even admit to themselves. Amidst all of the luxury and pampering, the mindfulness and meditation, they know these ten days might involve some real work. But none of them could imagine just how challenging the next ten days are going to be.

Could’ve ended after they left the retreat
Revisado: 07-19-23
On thing that ruins a book for me is when it ends more than Return of the King. The last stretch of this book is taking it out of me. I would have rated five stars if it had ended with them leaving the house, but here we are five years later.

Clever story with an interesting premise. There are a. Few things that I feel were superfluous, but other than that, it’s well crafted and woven neatly.

Same story three different times.
Revisado: 12-02-22
While Madeline is a good author, she follows a formula with these books. Get Dan interested in thing, have Dan learn about thing and then Dan goes off on his own or gets captured and is rescued in the last minute. I’m glad I listened to the last two because it was too much work to read the same premise three different times. The characters were less fleshed out with this one, and I could have missed it, but I don’t remember her ever showing who Jake Lee was or if he was a non sequiter of a character.

Historia
Joey’s a mechanic. One night, she receives a call from her best friend, asking for his car to be picked up from the infamous body dumping grounds of Baltimore: Leakin' Park. When she arrives, there’s little more around than a stalled-out car and a couple of ravens, so she leaves only with the car. Back at the body shop, it doesn’t take long for the smell of rot to permeate the trunk. Inside? A corpse. The cops say her friend did it. His absence is his guilt, but Joey knows better. She will find her missing friend, and she will prove his innocence.

Great performance on good book
Revisado: 07-02-22
I follow Ian on YouTube and while I’ll say she has a way with words and visuals, it got a little repetitive and even though the performance of the reader is amazing, I tuned out sometimes and had to go skip back to see what I missed. I think I’ll look into more of Ian’s work and see how much it would cost to hire Keirnan. Overall I enjoyed this, the repetition is my only gripe. Well, that and Ian has Tolkien disorder. The pacing kinda slows when we get to a pivotal moment to reminisce on the past. I’m weird, I’d rather hear or read the backstory at the beginning and see a character go from there than find out later that she and Wayland were closer than just some guy.
