Author does the reader dirty to make more money

I was good with the book until it ends on a massive cliffhanger to force you to buy the second book. It's one story broken into 2 books. No one likes paying for a story only to get half of it. the author & publisher may believe this is a way to increase income. but it leaves such a bad feeling to pay for a story, get invested, and then have an upcharge forced on you for the second half.... I won't keep buying this author's books. plenty of other amazing authors who deliver what they promise.... a complete story.

Narrators awesome. Story line.... not so much.

I struggled to get through the first book. HUGE, HEAVY drama used to carry the storyline. Characters are not well developed. Everything centers around one event. That dramatic beginning is what the whole book centers around, characters make 180 turn arounds that aren't credible. I'd been power listening prior to this and when I started this, I just put it down. I was frustrated because it was overly melodramatic. The ONLY thing that got me as far as it did was the narration. Bit even that couldn't fully carry the story. I ended up returning it

My Go To...

When life is kicking me in the teeth, this is my go to. Short, sweet, to the point. But don't think it's just motivational calorie-free, glitter... It's *real.* There are parts that might make one uncomfortable to hear... but that's why *I* need it, and why others need to listen too. if you have motivational issues... this will help you handle your life.

2nd or 3rd Vi Keeland book and similar story....

I'm not going to spoil it for you. but, the pinnacle of the story was the exact same as the last vi keeland book I read re: cheating and a few other items. Not impressed ...

I couldn't get through it.

I have read hundreds, if not thousands of books. I have NEVER experienced so much cynicism or complaining from the main character in the first chapter as this one has. Listening is like hearing an angry, bitter Eeyore complain about everyone and everything, while secretly either hating them, and talking bad about them in her head, then feeling sorry for herself about how she regrets her past. Maybe the author thought it added to the story. It doesn't. It's tiresome and annoying. The regret and her reasons for leaving could hve been achieved with a few sentences. Not an entire chapter of passive aggressive thoughts. I couldn't get through it.

Timeless Saga!!! My favorite book of ALL TIME!!!

I read my first Diana Gabaldon novel 25 years ago... Since then, I've re-read the first novel 10-15 times, not to mention listening to the audio book another 5-7 times over the last 25 years. Each time, I am transported to an incredible world of color and multi-layered characters & story lines where words convey magic and the escapism is unparalleled. This audio book is my favorite medium... FAR better than the show and easier to listen to, than to sit and read. The narrator, well, she's absolutely perfect. And the story, well: literary & entertainment perfection. If you've only seen the recent TV series, you're seriously missing out. It is like the cliff notes version of the real story. There's so many layers, and so much depth to the book itself, it's almost like a different story entirely. I hope you enjoy this version as I have.

FABULOUS!!!

Seldom am I choked up by a story. This one was AWESOME! Fast paced, action, great story line, unpredictable, laugh-out-loud funny, and it managed to get me in my feels....not in a depressing way that manipulates the reader like many books attempt. This one was a natural part of very well defined characters and an awesome story line. I am rooting for characters like I seldom ever do. This was the best so far. I've been listening to the series non-stop and can't put it down. This author is truly one of the best IMHO. If you're reading this and haven't started the series... START WITH BOOK 1. They build on each other and yes, they are ABSOLUTELY worth the credits. I havent received anything for this review. I am a picky listener and reader. But good writing, and a good narration... I'm DEFINITELY a fan!
