Proof of a great author!!
Revisado: 04-14-25
Hailey Edwards is on my “must buy” list! I’ve listened to this series before but when I got the urge to listen to some of Hailey’s work this week, I started the series again.
I’d say this is a read in order kind of book, since each book builds on top of lore from the book or two books before it. It is also helpful if you read The Beginner’s Guide to Necromancy series, with Linus and Greer, first, though it’s not absolutely needed, but you may get some spoilers.

Cooper knows he screwed up with Kala when they were young, but the adult Cooper is unwilling to let their past rob them of a future.

Lexi Blake masterpiece
Revisado: 04-05-25
As usual, Ms Blake has written an amazing story, brought to life by Ryan West. Both the author and the narrator continue to tell a story that was partly started in the very first Masters and Mercenaries with the M-T team. The bad guy has changed, but has ties to that first one. With many more of the extended M-T next generation listed or involved in this book, hopefully that means we’ll keep getting more and more of this found family’s story for many more books!!

Violence, indeed.
Revisado: 01-28-25
I listened to Fourth Wing and Iron Flame for the second or third time before I started Onyx Storm, just because I always forget things. I’d been waiting for this since Iron Flame came out, so I devoured this book. There are twists and turns and surprises around every corner!! The main two themes are 1 how to defeat the venin, 2 find Andarna’s family. The adventures and misadventures of this group of riders and flyers are edge of your seat exciting. The steamy parts could heat Alaska in winter. If you’re a fan of this series, this is an amazing addition to the party!! I would caution that there is a huge cliffhanger that was the single horrible thing about the book. Everything else was perfect for a romantasy book.
If you are new to this series, start at book one!! These are definitely not a series of stand alone books, you’d be sorely lost if you started here in the middle!! But I do recommend the whole series, I’ve been hooked since the first chapter of Fourth Wing!!

Ava Archer misses her best childhood friend most especially during the month of April. Ask any tax attorney, it's a lonely, grueling time of year. Luckily, Ava has just received a surprising and delectably absurd offer from her posh doppelgänger at work. She must pretend to be the aforementioned posh co-worker for one night at an extremely fancy party; a party so fancy, there exists absolutely no chance anyone will recognize her or suspect her ruse. . .

I’ve never had a bad opinion of Penny Reid’s work, and Banana Pants keeps that going strong! Plus, in true Penny fashion, she wove a story with so much meaning that you don’t realize that the stigma of a mental health condition has been torn down to the smallest parts, so that you see what someone with that condition may go through (some and may being very key words!!). This book was as amazing as any of Penny’s books and I’d say you’re Banana Pants if you don’t get it!!
The only complaint I have about the audiobook is that the gentleman did a Boston accent for Quinn but the lady did not. I’m usually not bothered by the differences in the woman’s voice being different from the man’s on any specific character, but the accent threw me for a loop. Still an amazing job though, once you get used to that!!

Historia
Living in a year around Christmas town has its drawbacks. The caroling, the decorations, the insanely cheery spirit, it never disappears. It's why I like to hibernate away in my cave - I mean housekeeping a healthy distance from the holly jolly spirits. And all was going according to plan until my nemesis, Storee Taylor, moved in next door to care for her Aunt Cindy. Without blinking, she turned my simple world into a real nightmare-before-Christmas, especially when she decided to enter the town Christmas Kringle contest - which she was determined to win.

Grinchy!!
Revisado: 10-24-24
Storee and Cole were an amazing couple, but it was the side characters that kept me in the Grinchy mindset!! Max, Cindy, Martha and May!! I adore all Quinnmas things, but this was above and beyond! Currently I own 3 copies and plan to buy at least one more!! Meghan has kids that need Christmas gifts, I don’t feel guilty!

Ancients
Revisado: 07-10-24
I don’t think I realized that this was a bit further from Raphael and Elena than I was used to. I have never been bothered by the books about Raphael’s seven finding their mates, but this was only barely connected to the usual cast of characters. Also, it started when Alexander was a youth, and considering he’s a super ancient, it took a while to catch up with the current time of the series.
That being said, I did enjoy this new couple. The book did give some much needed clues about the Queen of death I believe, letting us know a few hidden things. Plus, we get to see a good chunk of Raphael’s seven as juveniles, along with Raphael himself!!
If you’re a fan of the series and have gotten this far, I’d recommend reading or listening to this book, just to make sure you are caught up. If you’re new to the series, you really need to read the first one first, then you can read in whatever order, as long as you realize things will be really out of order with the ongoing battles.

Did I think I was going to fall for my coach's daughter? The answer would be no. I'm still unclear on how I got into this predicament in the first place. A year ago, I was a man with one thought on his mind, the redhead I met at a hotel bar. Twelve months later, I found her. Unfortunately for me, she not only happens to be my very off-limits coach's daughter, but also . . . my new assistant and roommate.

Oh Posey!!
Revisado: 06-28-24
Look, if you’ve read/listened to the other books in the Agitator books, this is a MUST!! I binged the whole book in a day and a morning, with a few breaks in between. It is super spicy, so funny and shows how much Posey cares about his teammates and their women! It’s a great listen, with all the narrators from the other books checking in as their characters! I’d maybe say it’s not the best to start the series on, but all you’ll know is the couples from the previous books worked it out and are happy, but you’ll still need to learn their trials and troubles. 1000% recommended!!

My name is Mercy Thompson Hauptman, and my mate, Adam, is the werewolf who leads the Columbia Basin Pack, the pack charged with keeping the people who live and work in the Tri-Cities of Washington State safe. It’s a hard job, and it doesn’t leave much room for side quests. Which is why when I needed to travel to Montana to help my brother, I intended to go by myself.

Mercy takes care of her own!
Revisado: 06-23-24
I love a good Mercy Thompson book, and this one is in that category. Mercy is still being affected by an artifact that has been destroyed, it left something in her it seems. Adam is fighting the effects of a curse from their former witch friend that turned to black magic. It’s a rough time for the Columbia Basin Pack. Then Mercy’s brother shows up with some kind of curse of his own. Mercy and Adam take off to his ranch to find out what happened. A Frost Giant claims Gary has stolen his harp/lyre. From there, Mercy and Adam must find this new artifact, which they only know has strings and is silver on the front. A nearby resort seems the most likely place to look, especially since there’s a huge snowstorm at the hands of the Frost Giant.
The plot from there goes through trying to find the artifact, checking all the people out at the resort the Frost Giant pointed them towards. But also, we get glimpses of the Tri-Cities and New Mexico where Adam has a “snafu” with a security job. These switches in POV, along with “Interludes” between all the chapters, make it a little more choppy, but somewhat understandable to get all the info. There was some info and characters that seemed unneeded in my opinion, but that’s a me issue.
Overall, this was a great addition to the Mercy Thompson series. Some new types of interactions with new types of creatures. I would not recommend trying to start the series with this book, it’s definitely a continuation that needs the prior knowledge of the previous books in the series. Plus it’s just an amazing series! If you’re already a fan, take the leap!!
As always, the voice actor did an absolute amazing job! I appreciate that the whole series has the same person doing the narrating!
