Historia
Mila has an exceptional talent for reading a room - sensing hidden facts and unspoken emotions from clues that others overlook. So when her father's best friend, Matthew, goes missing from his upstate New York home, Mila and her beloved father travel from London to find him. She collects information about Matthew from his belongings, slowly piecing together the story everyone else has missed. But just when she's closest to solving the mystery, a shocking betrayal calls into question her trust in the one person she thought she could read best.

Good story, not so great narration
Revisado: 01-13-16
What did you love best about Picture Me Gone?
I liked the main character. She is different from the protagonists in many YA books these days. I liked her insight and keen powers of observation. I liked that the story was about her and her relationship with her parents and the other people in her life. I liked that this was not another YA story about a young teenage girl finding her forever soulmate.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mila was my favorite character, for the reasons stated above.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narrator was the only part I didn't like about this audible! Her English accent was so obviously fake. If your main narrator is from London, for pete's sake, please have an English actress narrating the story. The narrator's fake accent was very distracting.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I found many moments moving, as Mila grew a little during the story and became more aware of how complex the world is.
Any additional comments?
This is the kind of story I enjoy. Not necessarily a ton of action, but a lot of internal growth and searching.

Historia
Graham Greene’s evocative analysis of the love of self, the love of another, and the love of God is an English classic that has been translated for the stage, the screen, and even the opera house. Academy Award-winning actor Colin Firth (The King’s Speech, A Single Man) turns in an authentic and stirring performance for this distinguished audio release.

You had me at "Colin Firth"
Revisado: 01-25-13
What made the experience of listening to The End of the Affair the most enjoyable?
Colin Firth's narration.
If you’ve listened to books by Graham Greene before, how does this one compare?
This is the first Graham Greene book I've read or listened to.
Have you listened to any of Colin Firth’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the first book I've listened to that was narrated by Colin Firth. If there are any others, I will listen to those, too.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The ending.
Any additional comments?
I got an email from audible that said Colin Firth was narrating a book. I didn't even need to know what book it was. You had me at "Colin Firth." While the story was fine, nothing unique or compelling, Colin Firth's narration made it something to listen to. Very entertaining and enjoyable. After listening to the audiobook, I watched the two movie adaptations, and I have to say I enjoyed the Neil Jordan version. It modernized the themes a little and made the characters more complex.
