Excellent message! Hidden Takeaways
Revisado: 05-22-24
I thought Sean Rogers did a good job at delivering his points across for those people who he wants to hear this story. I hope they pick up this book. There were some very good tips. People who have had a difficult time in their lives tend to work harder to get somewhere and to make a success of their lives. I am not sure it is all about poverty...but those who struggle for a normal family life, with a mother and a father who truly love you and uphold you, guide you to make you the best You. It is true without that, life is so much harder, and add the poverty to that...it makes life almost untenable.
I will say as far as the continual points being made with the pre-recorded voiced for emphasis, took away from the storyline and the points themselves, especially because the sound quality and the quickness of the reading was uneven. I understand the why...however, less words with clarity would have delivered the same effect.

It starts out innocently as you hope for a love st
Revisado: 05-22-24
The hope was that the story would take you into the heart of the woman and the life she now leads after her husbands untimely death...however instead it turns into a sexual drama that I had to make myself finish the story to see where it would go. The women's voice Kelsey Navarro was very annoying and at the end of each word the emphasis was up...not a natural voice. The men's voices were ok...but the story lacked real character depth. Would a woman with two small children choose that type of lifestyle? Perhaps...just a bit unreal.

I really enjoyed this story by Michael Koryta, my first listen! The writing was very well done, and very descriptive. You felt like you were there and waiting to see what happened next. The characters were developed well, and the story captured the downeast area fairly accurately. I really like Robert Petkoff as the reader, as he did a great job keeping you entertained and waiting for the events at every turn. I wanted to know if Israel made it, and did the money make it off the boat with Lyman & Hatchet.
