Historia
For a long time, Edie thought she had escaped. It started in an Appalachian trailer park, where a young girl dreamed of becoming a doctor. But every day Edie woke up to her reality: a poverty-stricken world full of alcohol and violence, where getting out seemed impossible. She taught herself to drive a stick shift truck at 12 years old so she could get her drunk daddy home from the bar. She spent Saturdays at Brushy Mountain prison visiting her incarcerated cousin. She watched adults eat while her stomach gnawed.

Historia
In 1985, Anthony Ray Hinton was arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder in Alabama. Stunned, confused, and only 29 years old, Hinton knew that it was a case of mistaken identity and believed that the truth would prove his innocence and ultimately set him free. But with an incompetent defense attorney and a different system of justice for a poor black man in the South, Hinton was sentenced to death by electrocution. He spent his first three years on Death Row at Holman State Prison in despairing silence.

Amazing book
Revisado: 10-28-24
This story is unbelievably tragic and hard to believe. The details and story were very engaging. I’m so glad it ended the way it did but it should have never happened. This book shows how corrupt the justice system can be.

Such a good book
Revisado: 01-16-24
This book was well written and having grown up watching the Duggar’s this book put it all in perspective. Jill didn’t speak ill about anyone, she simply told her side of the story. I loved it! I listened to it in 2 days because it was so interesting I couldn’t stop!
