Historia
How can we live our lives when everything seems to fall apart—when we are continually overcome by fear, anxiety, and pain? The answer, Pema Chödrön suggests, might be just the opposite of what you expect. Here, in her most beloved and acclaimed work, Pema shows that moving toward painful situations and becoming intimate with them can open up our hearts in ways we never before imagined. Drawing from traditional Buddhist wisdom, she offers life-changing tools for transforming suffering and negative patterns into habitual ease and boundless joy.

Awful narration.
Revisado: 01-07-24
Such stilted, over emphasized and over punctuated narration, I had to return. Why do narrators do this? Not every word need by shoved down my throat.

Historia
We are always attracting the love of others, or their criticism. We are drawing assistance and cooperation into the orbit of our personal experience, or else we are creating frustrations and disappointments. This is because we are always thinking. Mind is the most active thing in the universe. It works ceaselessly, fashioning thoughts into things.

Must every word be emphasized?
Revisado: 09-01-23
I can’t listen to the narrator any long. I tried, but the almost punitive delivery distracts entirely from the intention of the words.

Historia
There is a voice of longing inside each woman. We strive so mightily to be good: good partners, daughters, mothers, employees, and friends. We hope all this striving will make us feel alive. Instead, it leaves us feeling weary, stuck, overwhelmed, and underwhelmed. We look at our lives and wonder: Wasn’t it all supposed to be more beautiful than this? We quickly silence that question, telling ourselves to be grateful, hiding our discontent—even from ourselves.

A fearless friend in my living room.
Revisado: 04-10-20
I listened to Glennon read Untamed during the Covid-19 quarantine. I had never before sat with fear, uncertainty and utter lack of control to such a degree as forced isolation presented. And, I was lonely. Glennon came into my living room and with cheetah-like stealth, humor and honesty, called me to look deeper into the mirror to remember my own fierce truth. Untamed was a wonderful guide inward, to the gems of truth that make life rich. Thank you, Glennon for reassuring me that I AM, alone or not, afraid or not, insecure or not.
