Historia
Have you ever wondered "Why did I do that?" or "Why can't I just control my behavior?" Others may judge our reactions and think, "What's wrong with that person?" When questioning our emotions, it's easy to place the blame on ourselves; holding ourselves and those around us to an impossible standard. It's time we started asking a different question. Through deeply personal conversations, Oprah Winfrey and renowned brain and trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry offer a groundbreaking and profound shift from asking “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”

Very Valuable
Revisado: 09-21-21
An insightful, intelligent approach and inquiry into trauma and how it can be meaningfully and positively dealt with. My only criticism is that the role affection, touching, and simple primate warmth is not sufficiently highlighted in its effect on overall mental health. The impact it has on societies can be appreciated, for example, when nordic and latin cultures are compared.

In this coming-of-age memoir told through the themes of great books such as The Metamorphosis, The Scarlet Letter, The Iliad, and more, Tran navigates the push and pull of finding and accepting himself despite the challenges of immigration, feelings of isolation, and teenage rebellion.

Insightful
Revisado: 09-12-21
A touching, profound, and intelligent experience of growing up in the USA non-white. A must-read for any one with artistic sensibility or for that matter plain sensibility . It deserves a better title . ‘Sigh, gone ‘ perhaps catchy but frivolous…the book is anything but!
How about ‘Rolling to Survive’ which can alude (misspelt ) to role playing, skating, and just rolling with the times…😉

Historia
Nelson Mandela is one of the great moral and political leaders of our time: an international hero whose lifelong dedication to the fight against racial oppression in South Africa won him the Nobel Peace Prize and the presidency of his country. Since his triumphant release in 1990 from more than a quarter-century of imprisonment, Mandela has been at the center of the most compelling and inspiring political drama in the world.

Hay que tener presente que esto es un relato más político que personal. Claramente, como Mándela mismo dice, no le gusta hablar de su intimidad. Lástima. Sin embargo es una historia fabulosa de todas maneras y un ejemplo para todo ser humano.

Historia
Anna is distraught when her beloved mother, Ines, passes away. She inherits a box of papers, handwritten in Italian and yellowed with age, and a tantalizing promise that the truth about what happened during the war lies within. The diaries lead Anna to the small village of Rofelle, where she slowly starts to heal as she explores sun-kissed olive groves, and pieces together her mother’s past: happy days spent herding sheep across Tuscan meadows cruelly interrupted when World War Two erupted and the Nazis arrived....

Bastante predecible y superficial . No tiene mucha credibilidad en lo que se refiere a la guerra.
Es una novelita rosa.

Historia
With his characteristic eyebrow-raising behavior, Richard P. Feynman once provoked the wife of a Princeton dean to remark, "Surely you're joking, Mr. Feynman!" But the many scientific and personal achievements of this Nobel Prize-winning physicist are no laughing matter. Here, woven with his scintillating views on modern science, Feynman relates the defining moments of his accomplished life.

conflicting feelings
Revisado: 06-30-15
I found Feynman's insatiable curiosity in so many fields fun and inspiring. I found his candidness about his dexterity ( or plain luck) with manipulating numbers (and safes) exemplary. I found his grasp of and respect for science magnificent. I found his relationships with women shallow, manipulative and primitive. Perhaps a victim of his times, he expects a female to be no more than an erotic passtime. That is a dimension that is either missing in his life or in these otherwise insightful stories.
