An apocalypse without guns?
Revisado: 09-26-24
Story was just ok. Cannot say much stood out about it other than the main characters weren’t your typical leads for this genre.
The painful part was the narration. I tried different speeds, but just couldn’t get into the narrator’s voice. In fairness, I’m not sure it was the narrator or the writing. The writing was a constant barrage of short sentences and I think that made it hard to vocalize and bring life to. I wasn’t intrigued enough to get book two.

Fourteen-year-old Greg Dixon is living a nightmare. Attending boarding school outside of Boston, he is separated from his family when a pandemic strikes. His classmates and teachers are dead, rotting in a dormitory-turned-morgue steps from his room. The nights are getting colder, and his food has run out. The last message from his father is to get away from the city and to meet at his grandparents' town in remote New Hampshire.

A chef, a sociologist, and a pacifist-mommy prepped go into a bar…
Revisado: 10-30-23
… the 3 strike up a conversation and learn they are all interested in post-apocalypse fiction. They find Brad Manuel and he decides to write some books about it. This is their story. Kidding aside, this ventured into an area of the apocalypse that doesn’t get dealt with much. It shakes off the extreme good and evil sides and deals with what the middle 80% are left to deal with. It really did make me think about what I’d do if I were a 1:1,000,000 survivor. Not totally sure what I would do but finding a good cook is certainly high on the list after this book. Would be interesting to see if it continues. Of all the stats that Rebecca ran, I was surprised that she didn’t make a big deal out of how they would continue the population. They’ll need quite a few more folks to grow and prosper but maybe that’ll happen when they
return to the mainland.

Historia
Hector was the best of the best. A government operative who could bring armies to a halt and nations to their knees. But when his own country betrayed him, he dropped off the grid and picked up the first of many bottles. Natalie can’t remember much of her life before her family brought her to the US, but she remembers the cages. And getting taken away to the Project with dozens of other young children to become part of their nightmarish experiments. That’s how she ended up with the ghost of a dead secret agent stuck in her head.

Great Start
Revisado: 06-17-23
I couldn’t stop listening. This one drew me in real well. Solid story and it sets up for a number of other stories and perhaps even a rematch/reuniting/team up if some folks. After all, you have to bring it all down if you really want to stop the problem. Looking forward to the next one.

Had no idea what I was getting. Started off like many stories in the genre but once the Charles came in I was hooked. Between Charles, Veronica, Vlad, and Ladda, the additions to the main team are amazing. This story is hilarious but doesn’t lose you to it as they maintain the seriousness of it. Great job guys. Look forward to the rest.

Very good homage to H.P. Lovecraft. You tied a lot of things together effectively and made a great story out of it. Thank you!

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Only reason it's not a 5-star is because I wanted more for the ending. Aside from that, great story that I finished in 3 days while looking for things to do that allowed me to listen.

Historia
Jack Walker and Michael Talbot come from two worlds; the same, yet different. They both find themselves transported into an alien one, where things aren’t as they seem. While it appears similar to the ones they come from, there are some terrifying differences. Is it a dream? Or has reality been somehow warped? Jack comes from a world filled with nocturnal creatures that were once human, but now seek to destroy the last vestiges of humanity.

Better story
Revisado: 05-24-15
For me, I liked the pace and the characters. As much as I liked ZF series, there are too many side stories. This moved forward with the characters nicely. Look forward to next ones.
