This was my first time listening to Samantha Irby. I didn't know anything about her. I'm a senior citizen, white, straight and the author is not. Yet, her writing about her life brought me joy! I found this book to be humorous and relatable to the human experience, with some pet experience thrown in. Read it. She is hilarious.

After first knowing her as a writer of children's stories decades ago, I have enjoyed her first novel for my age group. Using research of her existing ancestors, she has created a fictional story set in the Victorian Era, in the UK and US. It held my interest from beginning to end. The performers that include Sarah, were perfect. I hope she will write another novel.
