Historia
On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. David was eventually tried, convicted, and sentenced to life without parole for the murder of Yvonne. But the entire investigation may have been botched, or even worse, covered up. Now, after 22 years journalist Maggie Freleng investigates Yvonne’s murder alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three) and his organization Proclaim Justice. Is David actually innocent? And ...

Maggie’s Done It Again!
Revisado: 03-25-23
I’ve followed Maggie’s Unjust & Unsolved podcast since the beginning. So seeing this new project, I had to check it out. I’m glad I did, but it also frustrates me. I don’t understand why we have so many cases where someone was seemingly more worried about closing the case than making sure they had the right person. Each time this happens it means the actual killer is free to kill again.

Historia
Mossad operative Adael Dayan has long been a pain in the ass to ATF special agents Thayne Wolfe and Jarrett Evans. Showing up in the middle of their cases, time after time, hasn’t endeared him to the pair. But both men grudgingly have to admit that he’s usually provided valuable assistance. When Adael suddenly wakes up believing he’s been poisoned, it becomes a race against the clock to help find the person who’s done this to him and learn why, in time to save his life.

This series has been a great read (or listen, really) and this installment didn’t disappoint. The storyline, characters, and narration are all well done.

Historia
As a sniper in the military, I shot on sight. But now, the only thing I have eyes for is Brooklyn, the new bartender at PJ's. Her curvy hips, those pouty lips; I want to touch every inch of her skin. I'll bend her over my bike and show her how a Bad Disciple really rides. But Brooklyn is hiding something - a secret that could rip us and the club apart. I killed her brother overseas. And now it haunts me in our streets. I’ll convince Brooklyn to stay with me. I never miss a target, and this time the bullseye is her heart.

Great first book!
Revisado: 10-27-20
I can’t remember how I stumbled across this author but I am glad I did! I loved that she provided enough drama and energy to keep it interesting without making the main characters have no spine, doing stupid stuff just to fill the story.
She also did a great job on selecting the narrators. Since I am almost exclusively audio and have been since 2009, I am a narrator snob and won’t hesitate to return a book or give a negative narration review when I hear single narrators that can’t actually sound both male and female, or are constantly forgetting which voice they should be speaking in and it makes it past the producer. Luckily the author went with dual narrators and both had voices that are easy to listen to and not too breathy. (See, told you I was a narration snob.). Snob or not, this audio book gets a high score from me because Savannah Rylan hit all my requirements with this one. Now I’m off to start on the next book in the series while silently praying she kept up the great work!

Historia
When Ben Sheridan is released from prison in 1936, he returns to his hometown to lead a simple life. Although he's paid his debt to society, he's never forgiven himself for the unthinkable act that forced him to take the life of his step-brother over a decade before. Storekeeper Heather O'Malley has never played the victim, but she's still a "scarred" young woman. She seizes the opportunity to help Ben restart his life, in part to atone for her silence about the events that sent her rescuer to prison.

Another Great Read from M.K. Chester
Revisado: 12-16-19
I offered to review this audiobook because I am such an an avid reader but also almost exclusively audio due to my schedule. Because of this, and the fact that a bad narrator can destroy a great series, I can be very critical of narrators. Especially when books have a single narrator required to speak with different voices for multiple characters. Most cannot do it without having some errors where they use the wrong 'voice' for the wrong character. Jennifer Groberg does a great job in narrating this book! It was a very enjoyable listen and I didn't have any issues distinguishing between characters.
As to the story, I am not one to give a lot of specific story details since I feel you should read the story for that. Tied Together is a continuous of The Bootlegger's Bride series I previously reviewed, but set far enough away from it to be totally independent with some common characters for reference. It is a historical romance that shows good can triumph over evil in the end. The book includes interesting characters, with lots of twists and turns that will keep you listening long into the night.

The Bootlegger's Bride is a short story in a series, but holds its own in a stand alone historical romance. It was great to see love win out over greed. While this book can stand alone and doesn't end with a cliffhanger, I am very excited to know that I can continue the series to see what happens next in this seemingly sleepy town, which isn't really so sleepy after all. This is book 1 in a paranormal mystery series and I for one am hooked. The book includes interesting characters, lots of twists and turns in the main story, and several good underlying stories within that will make you want to keep listening until the story is over.

Historia
Avery Rivers is a country music sensation, selling records by the millions and playing to sold-out crowds. But behind that persona is Robert, a burned-out musician cracking under the pressure. He changes his appearance and finds honest hard work in Jackson, Wyoming. Hy Whitely was a championship bull rider, but wants to be plain old Zeke for a while. When he returns to his family ranch, he bumps right into Robert - a one-night stand from his last rodeo appearance - who is now working there as a ranch hand.

Great story Okay Narration
Revisado: 08-29-19
I really enjoyed the story but struggled with the voice of Robert. He is a country singer that everyone assumes is straight, but the narrator gives him a fairly feminine voice. I think the overall performance would have been amazing if it used dual narration like so many of them are doing nowadays. That being said, the story itself was good enough that I was willing to overlook the feminine voice. I also listened to the entire book in one sitting!

Grace is in control at the office. Grace is in control at home. Grace is in control of herself. Grace hates it. Grace needs release and she's ashamed of it. Her only outlet has been escaping incognito to BDSM clubs where she submits to the sadistic desires of dominant men. That used to be enough until one of these men she's had a clandestine liaison with shows up at her place of work, as a newly hired employee. He knows her secret, but what is he going to do with it? I believe BDSM is about exploring those areas of ourselves that can be shameful.

Another great story!
Revisado: 08-09-19
Ruby Rivers did a better job narrating this story than those I have listened to in the past. I know these are extremely sensual books but her habit of always ending the sentence her voice going higher in volume can be highly annoying. She didn’t do this this time and it made for a much better listen.
As for the story, it was a great one about a Type A woman CEO realizing it’s okay to release control sometimes. And doing so with the right person who you love and trust can be even more powerful and fulfilling.
Excited to see what Alexandra Noir does next.

Just as good the second time around!
Revisado: 08-05-19
I checked out Book 1 in this series, Angel's Halo, without realizing I had listened to the series before until I was a few chapters into it. The series is good enough that I decided it was worth a second listen and I am glad I did! If you have read this series on Kindle or paperback and don't think you should purchase or check out, through Audible Escape, think again. Any good book is even better on audiobook, if the right narrators are used, and they definitely are in this series!
