Disappointed - sad I wasted money on a review of books I've already had. I usually like his books but this one was a let down and I found myself just trying to have patience with all the redundant content.

Had to listen to at 1.3 the regular speed because narration was painfully slow for me, but luckily app takes care of that, and the narration was great with the adjustment. The story was fun, especially if you understand and like science/engineering!

Great historical fiction of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake! Writer captured the struggles and devastation well. Jae always writes the "slow burn" of characters well too. Hope to hear more about Dr. Lucy Sharp in a future book - please!?

Throughout the book there is a high pitched background noise that is very distracting. I found I had to turn the book off several times because the noise was so distracting and bothered my ears. The characters did not have the same fun interactions that her previous books had, but I think this may be the narrator, previous book's narrator added a lot of playful banter and more emotion in the way she read it which really added depth to the characters and their interplay.
