Historia
1828. Robin Swift, orphaned by cholera in Canton, is brought to London by the mysterious Professor Lovell. There, he trains for years in Latin, Ancient Greek, and Chinese, all in preparation for the day he’ll enroll in Oxford University’s prestigious Royal Institute of Translation—also known as Babel. Babel is the world's center for translation and, more importantly, magic. Silver working—the art of manifesting the meaning lost in translation using enchanted silver bars—has made the British unparalleled in power, as its knowledge serves the Empire’s quest for colonization.

A great primal power has risen. The Queen of Flesh and Fire has become the Primal of Blood and Bone—the true Primal of Life and Death. And the battle Casteel, Poppy, and their allies have been fighting has only just begun. Gods are awakening across Iliseeum and the mortal realm, readying for the war to come. But when Poppy falls into stasis, Cas faces the very real possibility that the dire, unexpected consequences of what she is becoming could take her away from him.

Save Yourself, Skip It
Revisado: 07-03-24
it's another crappy book rehashing an older book from the man's perspective. literally nothing you haven't already read until the last chapter when there's a massive plot point randomly out of no where that makes zero sense. don't buy this. just DM me and I'll tell you the one crappy plot point. no reason for us both to suffer.

Historia
From intimate relationships to global politics, Sarah Schulman observes a continuum: that inflated accusations of harm are used to avoid accountability. Illuminating the difference between conflict and abuse, Schulman directly addresses our contemporary culture of scapegoating. This deep, brave, and bold work reveals how punishment replaces personal and collective self-criticism, and shows why difference is so often used to justify cruelty and shunning.

Gross Misunderstanding of Modern Language Use
Revisado: 12-28-23
Stopped reading after the third example of why when women say "no" they may not mean it and that someone else may know better than the woman saying "no." The logic used is horrifically flawed and often infantilizes the woman telling her someone else knows best. Chapter One isn't talking about how conflict is not abuse. It's talking about how consent is negotiable. Hard red flag.

For many people, there is fear and stigma associated with entering the therapy room. Maybe you've been told that going to therapy means something is wrong with you. Maybe you don't know what to expect. Even if you recognize the benefits of seeking help, it can feel scary and unknown to take that first step. If you've thought about therapy but don't know where to start, or if you've tried therapy in the past but it hasn't helped, Authentic Therapy is for you.

Best intro & explainer therapy book I've ever read
Revisado: 01-19-23
Not the typical therapy book. This dives deep into what therapy is, how it can help, why it's important, and all the logistical trappings of therapy that can often be discouraging and overwhelming. This is my new go-to book to recommend to those new to therapy. This book put the author on my "must read immediately" list for any future releases.

Historia
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance - and healing - in each other's arms.

Flirts With Plot, but Never Ends Up Getting One
Revisado: 05-18-21
everything about the narrator is right. at times it's hilarious.
the switch to other characters is terribly written. all characters are written as if they all think exactly the same way. it makes it hard to tell who's brain you're in. periodically they get close to doing some kind of action, then back off to go back to drama. almost a horrific cartooning of PTSD. to an insulting degree.
