Historia
Let's be real - customers suck. It's Tony's job to "reset the customer experience" with no tools other than his customer-oriented attitude and expression of the greedy corporation's hip and trendy culture. Ha ha. Right. Tony knows his wife might not make it through this pregnancy. She's on bedrest due to a mass in the womb and odds are it's cancerous. As bills outweigh their income, he's forced to choose between packing in hours at Pizza Corp or spending what could be the last few months with his wife....

High Drama Pizza Delivery
Revisado: 11-08-22
Excellent view into the daily life of a pizza place. The camaraderie of the employees and the moronic cruelty of the customers really makes you think about how to treat good service workers better.
This was funny, sad, and tense. I really got a feel for the panic feeling of an out of control dinner rush!

Historia
The man known as Cheradenine Zakalwe was one of Special Circumstances' foremost agents, changing the destiny of planets to suit the Culture through intrigue, dirty tricks, and military action. The woman known as Diziet Sma had plucked him from obscurity and pushed him toward his present eminence, but despite all their dealings she did not know him as well as she thought. The drone known as Skaffen-Amtiskaw knew both of these people. It had once saved the woman's life by massacring her attackers in a particularly bloody manner. It believed the man to be a lost cause.

"Memento" chapter construction is confusing
Revisado: 06-21-15
This is written with a "Memento" chapter construction: two parallel plots with one going forward and one going backward. But this version doesn't do a good job of differentiating between the two plots and even puts them in the same audiobook chapter. (It doesn't help that there are flashbacks and substories in both plot lines.) I had a hard time figuring out the transitions and found the story pretty confusing at times.

Historia
Jake Sullivan is a licensed private eye with a seriously hardboiled attitude. He also possesses raw magical talent and the ability to make objects in his vicinity light as a feather or as heavy as depleted uranium, all with a magical thought. It's no wonder the G-men turn to Jake when they need someoneto go after a suspected killer who has been knocking off banks in a magic-enhanced crime spree.

Wizard Ninja Airship Pirate Knights!
Revisado: 03-09-15
It may sound like a crazy convolution of tropes, but Hard Magic is a really fun adventure and well worth the listen. The setting's history and magic system are well fleshed out and the characters are interesting.
The narrator does a great job of making every character come to life with their own verbal hints and nuances.
I wouldn't quite call it literature, but its a great read!
