Historia
Tiffany can't avoid being funny: it's just who she is. But The Last Black Unicorn is so much more than a side-splittingly hilarious collection of essays - it's a memoir of the struggles of one woman who came from nothing and nowhere. A woman who was able to achieve her dreams by reveling in her pain and awkwardness, showing the world who she really is, and inspiring others through the power of laughter.

So. So. Good.
Revisado: 12-13-18
I know I’m late to the party with this book, but it is SO GOOD! Tiffany Haddish is SO freakin’ funny. She knows how to navigate the serious moments, but she is wonderfully hilarious. You might just pee your pants. Maybe it’s ‘cause I’m white (since, as Tiffany would say, white people love other people who just put it all out there and don’t give a f*ck), but this book is amazing and so is Tiffany Haddish.

Historia
I've never been afraid of the dark...but that doesn't mean I wanted to live in it. Maybe everyone wants what they can't have, but I should've thought it over before I unlocked the door to their forbidden world. Number One is mostly silent. He watches me very carefully. Number Two is mostly gentle. But it's the other side of him I like best. Number Three is mostly reserved. It was carnal, it was sensual, and it was erotic. That's it. That's all it was supposed to be. A trip into the dark. A peek into the forbidden. I just didn't expect to like them.

Good scenes, disappointing ending
Revisado: 08-17-17
I loved the beginning and middle of this book, but the ending was so disappointing. It fell into the - surprisingly - heteronormative, monogamous category that way too many of these story lines do. This was especially surprising given the premise of this book. Additionally, many of the sex scenes didn't feel like they were based on real experiences, but like they were just well-written fantasies. I did enjoy the book, but the ending was just so disappointing that I think it left a sour taste in my mouth. You'll love it if you like some kinky things but ultimately prefer vanilla endings.

This is hilarious, thought-provoking, well written, and well read. You will enjoy these stories, and be left wanting B. J. Novak to write more of anything.

Historia
Almost everyone swears, or worries about not swearing, from the two year-old who has just discovered the power of potty mouth to the grandma who wonders why every other word she hears is obscene. Whether they express anger or exhilaration, are meant to insult or to commend, swear words perform a crucial role in language. But swearing is also a uniquely well-suited lens through which to look at history, offering a fascinating record of what people care about on the deepest levels of a culture - what's divine, what's terrifying, and what's taboo.

A great listen
Revisado: 07-10-15
While the narrator's voice takes just a bit of time to acclimate to, this book is great. Fantastic details, good storytelling, and very entertaining. Obviously, you won't like it if you can't stand to listen to "curse words" in an academic context.

If you want a good cry...
Revisado: 07-06-15
...then this is the book for you. It's fun and well-written, and the story really draws you in. Then it becomes compelling, and then quite sad. Don't worry, though: it doesn't quite finish like that. I would highly recommend this to any one of my friends or family - especially dog lovers and philosophers!

Historia
The project was simple: An attractive, successful magazine journalist, Robin Rinaldi, would move into a San Francisco apartment, join a dating site, and get laid. Never mind that she already owned a beautiful flat a few blocks away, that she was 44, or that she was married to a man she'd been in love with for 18 years. What followed - a year of sex, heartbreak, and unexpected revelation - is the topic of this riveting memoir, The Wild Oats Project.

Good book with good insights
Revisado: 03-27-15
As the title implies, this is a good - not great - book. The sex scenes are described well, and I felt like I learned a good bit through living the author's experiences vicariously. I'd recommend it, but only if you're ok with many explicit sex scenes.
