Historia
After being rescued as infants from a sinking ocean liner in 1914, Marian and Jamie Graves are raised by their dissolute uncle in Missoula, Montana. There—after encountering a pair of barnstorming pilots passing through town in beat-up biplanes—Marian commences her lifelong love affair with flight. At fourteen she drops out of school and finds an unexpected and dangerous patron in a wealthy bootlegger who provides a plane and subsidizes her lessons, an arrangement that will haunt her for the rest of her life, even as it allows her to fulfill her destiny: circumnavigating the globe.

Incredible Novel, Great Narration
Revisado: 12-03-22
Great Circle should be at the top of your audiobook wish list. The performances from the 2 narrators are fantastic. It’s incredibly well produced and the novel is so well written and researched, I will likely read and listen to it again. Don’t miss it!

Historia
In a time when our political and cultural views feel more polarized than ever, Tyson provides a much-needed antidote to so much of what divides us, while making a passionate case for the twin chariots of enlightenment—a cosmic perspective and the rationality of science. After thinking deeply about how science sees the world and about Earth as a planet, the human brain has the capacity to reset and recalibrates life’s priorities, shaping the actions we might take in response. No outlook on culture, society, or civilization remains untouched.

Great writing and performance
Revisado: 11-17-22
There is nobody like Neil deGrasse Tyson. He is brilliant, has a terrific voice for narration, and is such a good writer. The audiobook is really the way to go for Starry Messenger because the performance is so good. I’m going to listen to it a few more times and recommend it to everyone. This book is a gift to the world.

Historia
For generations, everything has been getting faster, better, and cheaper. Finally, we reached the point that almost anything you could ever want could be sent to your home within days - even hours - of when you decided you wanted it. America made that happen, but now America has lost interest in keeping it going.

Best of 2022
Revisado: 11-15-22
I read about 60% of this book and listened to the rest. I often re-read parts of the book because there is so much information that you’ll want to go back when you realized you didn’t pay close enough attention to a part. The reading by Peter is like listening to a great lecture series and his performance is so engaging that I almost found it easier to obtain the information from audio. Anyways it’s my favorite book of 2022. There’s so much to learn here and to consider for our future. Highly recommended.

Historia
The first authoritative biography of film legend Bruce Lee, who made martial arts a global phenomenon, bridged the divide between Eastern and Western cultures, and smashed long-held stereotypes of Asians and Asian Americans. Forty-five years after Bruce Lee’s sudden death at age 32, journalist and best-selling author Matthew Polly has written the definitive account of Lee’s life. It’s also one of the only accounts; incredibly, there has never been an authoritative biography of Lee.

An Incredible Bruce Lee Biography
Revisado: 07-19-22
In this book, the life of Bruce Lee is told so well it’s hard to truly acknowledge its greatness. The pacing of the story, the amount of thought and research that went into the project and the performance of the narrator are all excellent. Everything about it does justice to how big of a figure Bruce Lee will always be. I will certainly listen to this again in the future.

Historia
When Mark Lanegan first arrived in Seattle in the mid-1980s, he was just "an arrogant, self-loathing redneck waster seeking transformation through rock 'n' roll." Little did he know that within less than a decade, he would rise to fame as the frontman of the Screaming Trees, and then fall from grace as a low-level crack dealer and a homeless heroin addict, all the while watching some of his closest friends rocket to the forefront of popular music.

Historia
This urgent and eye-opening book makes the case that protecting humanity's future is the central challenge of our time. If all goes well, human history is just beginning. Our species could survive for billions of years - enough time to end disease, poverty, and injustice, and to flourish in ways unimaginable today. But this vast future is at risk. With the advent of nuclear weapons, humanity entered a new age, where we face existential catastrophes - those from which we could never come back.

Historia
When Michael Pollan set out to research how LSD and psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) are being used to provide relief to people suffering from difficult-to-treat conditions such as depression, addiction, and anxiety, he did not intend to write what is undoubtedly his most personal book. But upon discovering how these remarkable substances are improving the lives not only of the mentally ill but also of healthy people coming to grips with the challenges of everyday life, he decided to explore the landscape of the mind in the first person as well as the third.

Historia
Why is America living in an age of profound economic inequality? Why, despite the desperate need to address climate change, have even modest environmental efforts been defeated again and again? Why have protections for employees been decimated? Why do hedge-fund billionaires pay a far lower tax rate than middle-class workers? The conventional answer is that a popular uprising against "big government" led to the rise of a broad-based conservative movement.
