Historia
LeAnne Hogan went to Afghanistan as a rising star in the military and came back a much lesser person, mentally and physically. Now missing an eye and with half her face badly scarred, she can barely remember the disastrous desert operation that almost killed her. She is confused, angry, and suspects the fault is hers, even though nobody will come out and say it. Shattered by one last blow - the sudden death of her hospital roommate, Marci - LeAnne finds herself on a fateful drive across the country, reflecting on her past and seeing no future.

Great, like all Spencer Quinn’s books. But my favorites are the Chet and Bernie stories, told from the dog’s perspective. Just the best!

The Nowhere Man! No Spoilers
Revisado: 02-20-24
Interesting characters, who you love and those you don’t. That’s what makes for a good read, or a good listen. The latter of course requires great narration…and it doesn’t get much better than Scott Brick. And when you combine these elements with the superb storytelling of Gregg Hurwitz…well, what you get are books that you wish never ended! If there was anything I didn’t like, it would have been a particular moment when Mr. Hurwitz employs a sinister piece of misdirection that leaves us all stunned and horrified. I was driving at the time and almost had to pull over! Greg, if you ever do that again I’ll be forced to make the call…1 855-2-NOWHERE

Strong Woman Brittany
Revisado: 11-24-23
I never write book reviews, so this is my first. This book made me angry and gave me joy. Shame on her parents, or any parents who would exploit their children the way Brittany was. So happy to hear she finally was able to break free the monster who was posing as a father. Shame on you dad! And I hope you read this. Shame on you. It’s your turn now Brittany. Go out and live your best life. You deserve it.

Historia
Mitch Rapp hates owing anyone a favor—especially when it’s the world’s most powerful crime lord. But when Damian Losa calls, Mitch is honor bound to answer. The Syrian government has created a highly addictive new narcotic that it plans to distribute throughout Europe. It’s a major threat to Losa’s business and he’s determined to stop it by any means necessary. Rapp is the perfect choice for the mission. Not only does he have extensive experience operating in the Middle East, but he’s also entirely expendable.

Why fix what isn’t broke?
Revisado: 09-18-23
This is not a knock on Steven Webber, he’s a competent narrator. But he’s NOT the voice of Mitch Rapp! As far as Rapp novels go, this story was mediocre at best. Combine that with the wrong narrator and you end up with a big disappointment. I am a huge Mitch Rapp fan, and have listened to every offering. And it was only my allegiance to this character that allowed me press on when I wanted to quit this book a couple hours in.

Historia
If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed. On May 17, 2014, Admiral William H. McRaven addressed the graduating class of the University of Texas at Austin on their Commencement day. Taking inspiration from the university's slogan, "What starts here changes the world," he shared the ten principles he learned during Navy Seal training that helped him overcome challenges not only in his training and long Naval career, but also throughout his life; and he explained how anyone can use these basic lessons to change themselves - and the world - for the better.

This is one of those books you wish would never end. And one of the only books I've ever listened to that I wanted to listen to again as soon as it was over! Josephine Bailey gives a flawless performance, really bringing the children's characters to life. The only way you can lose with this book is if you pass it up!

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

The Martian. What a ride!
Revisado: 05-14-15
A truly amazing book. More science then I'll ever comprehend. I always knew astronauts had to be smart people, but I never realized just how knowledgeable they really are. And the author is no slouch either. He didn't just pull all of this information out of his own imagination. He's a pretty sharp cookie too! Great story.
