Funny, great characters and storyline. A Julie Garwood historical classic. Great narration that didn't detract from the story. Ive read this several time. The narration is done well and suits the story. RIP Can't believe there won't be more.

Nora Roberts at her best. Worst narration ever.

This is Nora Roberts at her best. Great story, extraordinary characters, great development back story. I love this book. The narration is absurd, totally inappropriate for the story. it's like listening to grandma, or the cheerleading coach from glee tell a story. It grates on the nerves and you will need migraine medication to get through the narration. I only wanted it to end. Very disappointing for one of the best Nora Roberts books ever.

A Lindsey Favorite... but not the narration

The narration was cringe worthy. To much whining . It grated on the nerves every time a man was supposed to be speaking.

DISSAPPOINTED

The hero is quite the ass. He's lecherous, cruel and without redeeming characteristics. The heroine is a whiner and to stupid for words. I kept waiting for the whit and wisdom of many Johanna Lindsey books. (May she rest in peace.) It's so disappointing as I have enjoyed so many Lindsey storys.

NEVER BUY WOODIWISS ABRIDGED!

Kathleen Woodiwiss was one of the most amazing writers ever. My heart is broken to know there will be no more . RIP. That being said you can not edit out any part of her book or you loose the entire story. Her tales are so intricately woven and detailed that they immerse you into another world. They completely draw you in. Any abridged version you never get there because your missing the details, the hold that keeps you there. You get lost just wondering what the hell happened and that doesn't make since and your only left disappointed. Especially if you've read her before as you know how she writes and this isn't it. The narrator at that point doesn't matter.

No Hero here! Nothing worth your time!

If you like violence and a woman willing to marry her abuser sure.Though her rapist turns out to be his twin who acts as if she should be pleased with everything. The so called hero claims to care for her while having "business" with his mistress daily, all in the name of saving the country. Said hero claims he's disgusted with said woman but his body seems to respond any way. We even get tidbits of moments with said mistress with pregnant wife in the next room. The whole time she just takes it like it's her due and she should just be happy he married her. I have book version of ptsd and wish to God I had never read this book.

This is one of my favorite Johanna Lindsey books. One I have read more than once. I was so excited to be able to get it on AUDIO. Then to be so dissatisfied and disappointed by the narration is heartbreaking.
The male characters all sound like snobs and not at all masculine which is not at all the way they are written. I wanted to cry listening to it. Derrek the main male character sounds ridiculous and you have no idea he cares for her at all. This has completely destroyed so many beloved characters and if audible would give me a refund I would take it. I will never get an audio with this Narrator. Its literally painful to listen to.
