All this build up to a poor ending
Revisado: 03-28-25
I so desperately wanted this series to be victorious, and books 1 and 2 were great, but book 3 squandered so many opportunities to expand the world/story and wiped powerful players from the board with no effort to their credit. And the STUPID way it ends….

Historia
It is one of the most well-known and well-loved fantasy epics of the twentieth century: the story of Elric, emperor of the dying kingdom of Melniboné. For a hundred centuries the Melnibonéans have ruled from the Dragon Isle of Imrryr. Now, after years of corruption and decadence, Elric’s amoral cousin Prince Yyrkoon, the brother of his beloved Cymoril, sets his eyes on the Ruby Throne. Elric must face his treacherous cousin not as a warrior but as a sorcerer king once again in league with the ancient gods of Melniboné, the Chaos Lords, and thus sealing his inexorable fate.

Revisado: 12-30-24
I really enjoyed the 75% of this collection, but the last book in this series was a bit boring and jumped around.
Still a good listen if you like classic sword and sorcery style writing.
It definitely reads like the times it was written.

Historia
A year had passed since Ben Holiday bought the Magic Kingdom from the wizard Meeks, who had set a series of pitfalls against him. Ben survived, by the aid of three loyal friends: Questor Thews, and ill-trained wizard; Abernathy, a talking dog, the court scribe; and the lovely Willow, who sometimes had to be a tree. But Ben had been troubled by dreams of disaster to his former partner, Miles Bennett. Yet when he returned to Earth, Ben found Miles doing splendidly. The dreams had been a trap by Meeks, who had returned to the Magic Kingdom as a tiny insect hidden in Ben's clothing.

If you enjoyed Magic Kingdom for Sale then you should enjoy this sequel. The characters are solid and the development is nice.
At times it is predictable and I found myself audibly saying “get there already” when I foresaw where it was going, but still en enjoyable listen.

Historia
Landover was a genuine magic kingdom, with fairy folk and wizardry, just as the advertisement has promised. But after he purchased it, Ben Holiday learned that there were a few details the ad had failed to mention. The kingdom was in ruin. The Barons refused to recognize a king, and the peasants were without hope. A dragon was laying waste the countryside, while an evil witch plotted to destroy everything.

I really enjoyed this story. It took a few chapters to get into, but once I did I thoroughly enjoyed the work building and characters.
It is an almost complete story, and you could stop after book 1 if you wanted. There are no big cliffhangers at the end, just one looming thought about Meeks.

Historia
On a little-known planet, Archmage Varic Vallenar casts a grand spell to empower himself with the magical abilities of his alternate selves. The ritual works too well, granting Varic not only the magic but also the memories from six lives. Including their gruesome deaths. Now, Varic has power greater than any wizard in galactic history, but he knows that won’t be enough. The enemies he faced in those alternate lives were apocalyptic in scale. Terrors of technology and magic. Nothing that he, or anyone, can defeat.

Solid fantasy/sci-fi story. It is structured like all Will’s books, so you know it has a satisfying ending and some humor along the way.
Characters are well developed and our heroes are not over powered, although it might seem that way in the beginning.

Legend claims a Dreamer god sleeps, waiting to grant unimaginable powers in exchange for eight sacrifices. The producers are determined to document the evidence. Beautifully narrated and well rounded story
Revisado: 02-13-24
OMG I loved this book so much. This will go down as one of the few times that a 2nd book in a series was better than the first.
The writing is great and the ties between the characters is explored very well.
This felt like a classic Japanese horror story to me with all the typical spooky apparitions and haunts fueled by tragedy and a need for power, but not cliche and overplayed.
You do need to read book 1 to really enjoy book 2, However the stories themselves can probably be ready independently without to much loss or misunderstanding the circumstances.
The narrator of this book does a fantastic job and you really feel their emotion behind it.

Gripped by a tyrant king and in the thrall of dark magic, the kingdom is in peril. Elspeth and Ravyn have gathered most of the twelve Providence Cards, but the last—and most important—one remains to be found: the Twin Alders. If they’re going to find the card before Solstice and set free the kingdom, they will need to journey through the dangerous mist-cloaked forest. The only one who can lead them through is the monster that shares Elspeth’s head: the Nightmare.

Almost great
Revisado: 02-05-24
So, I did enjoy this book, but it was a little predictable. The characters are great and I enjoyed that this book has good character development for most of the cast. Elm probably has the most growth, and more story development than the others.
The book ends on a good note and doesn’t leave much unexplained.
The only downside is that there might have been too many characters for the narrator to voice appropriately. She tends to blend the voices together.
Of you read book 1 in physical form, stick to that medium.
