Exhausting Angst

What can I say except the lack of communication. They say they are best friends yet so much is untold between them. It's games and more games. It went on and on and all 3 books could've been condensed into one book instead of a prequel and 2 books.

It got very tiring reading about these two. Brooklyn was especially tiring and having doubts about marrying Wes. That should've told her everything - doubts. Why would any woman marry a man having doubts. She just wanted a secure place to land. Well, my dear there is no safety net in love. You either jump in and you definitely don't jump in with doubts. I did feel for her loving a man that she felt never saw her as anything more than a BFF or even sister. Sad.

The story was good, and I had to flip through some pages because they kept repeating certain topics, but I wanted to find out what happens in the end. So, I kept listening and listening.

The book is worth the read but prepare yourself for the angst and continual misunderstandings and mishaps between Brooklyn and Drew. I loved Gigi and Molly Drews aunt and sister. The best of the book and entertaining were Lyss and Charlotte - Drews little girls. They were the best and I loved what a good, hands-on single dad he was, they were the love of his life. I did not like Brook's father and thought he was too overbearing and interfered too much. Cara and Skylar, Drew's exes were beyond disturbed.

READ the book but be prepared!

Finally a love story that has all the feels without overdoing the sex scenes. It actually has a story of each of the characters and back characters.

Nothing can top narrators Andi Arndt and Jason Clarke and together they are dynamite. They gave life to Denver and Callie as no other narrators could do. I've listened to many romance books and the best ones actually have a storyline.

I enjoyed this book tremendously and I will go back and read it again. I'm onto book 2 and like that the other band members, friends and families are included in each of the book series. The next book can't come soon enough.

Kudo's to Julie Kriss on creating a worthwhile read. I'll be looking forward to reading more of her books. :)

AN EXCELLENT BEGINNING TO A CRIME FAMILY ACTION -

First let me say I can't wait for the next book AND for many more in the series too :)

I love crime/romance stories and this one is close to the top of my favorite listens. It's very apparent that the hostility runs high between the two crime families. In order to grow in strength it's required for them to join the families together by an arranged marriage. Thus Elisa from the Gambino family and John from the Colombo family are chosen. This arrangement however was all done behind their backs, so just imagine how surprised each of them were when the two families met for lunch at a neutral location to announce this union.

Their strong family loyalty demands they marry each other but they're not willing participants. Elisa that wants nothing to do with her family's chosen profession of crime and instead went to college to study to become a nurse. This is her passion, to help others.

It was an enjoyable read to see the relationship grow between Elisa and John. He's an alpha male but she sure isn't compliant when her fiery temper flares up and John seems to push those buttons throughout the book. Their love scenes are very passionate and boy what a lover John is, so considerate and selfless towards Elisa. As Elisa is re-acquainted with sex she wants to be a good lover back. Both are resilient lovers and soon become addicted to each other even through their hostile relationship in at least 50% of the first half of the book.

Elisa is kind and compassionate but not a push over to John's surprise and delight. She's beautiful with long blond hair, green eyes and perfect body and completely oblivious of her appearance to others. She's grounded and down to earth and loves her family immensely. In spite of losing her mother at an early age and only having her father - the head of her crime family, she stays consistently sweet and considerate. Although being the wife of (John) the up and coming leader in his crime family her one condition to the marriage was to work as a nurse. Of course both crime families said NO in that it would be embarrassing to them, having others think they couldn't afford to support her. But John quickly agrees with her chosen career saying that's how things are in the new age so reluctantly the leaders agree.

John has a strong bond and loyalty to his family and especially with his brother Dario. They background story could've been longer with more detail and it's sad to be orphaned so young. Their uncle pulls them into the fold and teaches them their ways yet through this entire time were never shown love. They only had each other and yet in spite of the lack of affection given by other family, John & Dario always had each other's back and remained loyal to one another.

As the book continues their relationship develops more each day with a few ups and downs until a serious situation occurs. Tragedy happens where they both realize the importance for peace and their relationships. They are a great couple and the 14 hour listen went quickly. Now I'm longing for more.

Ashlynn Brooks brought Elisa's character to life. She had all the expression and feels. What a great narrator. Jack Fetching has great tone and I loved his voice but the majority of the time it was monotone as if he was simply reading. But the book was so interesting that I was more invested in the book that most of the time I didn't notice.. I would've given 5 stars had the male voice been a little more expressive.

My most favorite crime family series is "Ruthless People" by J.J. McAvoy and this series (should it continue) will equal J. J. McAvoy's.

A great read, don't miss out because it's well worth the credit AND NO I wasn't given anything free for this review. Thank you Kelsey Dawson on a great book and good luck with your next book(s)! I'll look forward to listening/reading more of them.

I thought after the first book the rest of the books would go downhill and wouldn't hold my attention as much. How wrong I was. Each book is an extension of the previous one and the story continues with mystery, adventure and romance. The push and pull continues but doesn't lag the story in any way.

I loved Stef/Sara and Hunter and both suit each others personalities. The romance level was perfect, wasn't too little or too much.

Storyline, romance and pace of these books was well balanced along with character building in each book. It was nice to see Stef & Hunter in the next books too. What I like most in books series is to not lose touch with main characters from one to another even though the main characters are in the fore front the other book main characters still blend in.

Eden Summers I must say will keep your interest no matter what book she writes. Very talented writer. The narrators were perfect and I had no complaints. They never distracted me from following the books.

Get your copy of the boxsets they are well worth the credit.

I like the storyline and the college atmosphere, however, it was difficult to listen to the narrator speaking for the male character. The female was fine.
It's difficult to listen to child abuse and I'm always happy when bad parents/guardians get their just reward. I enjoy a story with an HEA and like to see two strong characters come together and fight for the right to stay together. Nothing comes easy if it's worth it. As human beings we seem to appreciate things when we have to work harder for them.
The book overall what a good read.......not so much for a listen, I think it would be better to just read the book to hear your own voice for the male hero.

No one can tell a story like Rebecca Yarros does and this book is a great example of her work. Right from the beginning I was hooked. I loved all the characters and felt like I was there with them. That's what Rebecca Yarros does......draws you in. The story is so believable, heart-breaking and truly a love story from all relationship aspects. This book is a must to listen/read to. I bought both since I like to read while listening.

This has been one of the best reads I've had in a long time. I don't normally write reviews but you can't go wrong with this book even if it's not your normal genre. Action packed, never a dull moment. Great character development and the ending......is just the BEST!!

This is not my usual genre but I have to say that this book had best plot, keep me interested along with a tug/pull love story. I loved King and Doe's journey and definitely didn't except the end of this book, of course it's a cliff hanger. An excellent read and you won't be sorry!

Loved the story and can't wait for the next book to find a HEA for Marcus, Emma and the 3 cats. Sebastián York and Ava Erickson are a dynamic duo.
