I enjoyed hearing about your spiritual Journey. I can’t call myself a Christian in the traditional sense of accepting Jesus as my savior or that he died for our sins, I do, however try to follow Jesus’s teachings. Your story of baptism reminds me of my baptism when I was only 9 or 10 years old. I really didn’t understand it. My parents told me I was getting baptized, that was it. I remember how I felt after being baptized Lutheran, after the service, I remember feeling physically light and a happiness that was not the norm for me. I will tell you I had a little trouble with your comments about Joel Olsteen ( he drives a mazaratti and seems to live the life of entitlement. I don’t begrudge people who have been successful and are affluent. His lavish lifestyle doesn’t sit right with me. It’s hypocritical in my view and Kathy Gifford who rolled her eyes and was rude to Bill Nye as guest on her morning show. He was barely into explaining something scientific. I saw on his face hurt and confusion. I know I’m being judgemental, or am I being discerning? Behaviors like that don’t convince me they’re spiritually centered in Christianity. That is why I am put off and suspect of “Christianity” and formal religion. I did love your book and getting to know you. I did learn much on how to be better spiritually connected to God as we understand him/her (why is God referred to as being male?). I loved what you taught us about prayer and I thank you for that. God Bless you Julie, when you left the Talk…I stopped watching.

The mother daughter relationship is sacred. The connection durable even through selective estrangement. The story is funny, thoughtful, sad and loving. Highly recommend reading this short story. It provokes insight to one’s own story
