The book always has more story than the movie
Revisado: 07-21-19
This classic story of The Wizard of Oz is one I enjoyed often in movie form as a child. It was one of the favorite stores of my grandmother on my mom's side. However, there's much more to the characters in the book.
Spoilers: We never hear about the lion fighting the huge spider, or how each of Dorothy's comrades ends up ruling their own country. The movie doesn't even mention the China porcelain people or the other beasts at the Wicked Witch of the West's disposal. Note about the performance: I enjoyed hearing this as an audio book. Anne Hathaway had fun voices for each character. A couple times she did the wrong voice for the character. She used the Lion's voice for the scarecrow at the end of one of the chapters in the middle. It threw me off a bit, but that was not often. Overall she did a great job. I like that actors are getting into reading audio books and performing in a completely new medium.

Historia
Gallileo, Copernicus, Newton, Niels Bohr, Einstein. Their insights shook our perception of who we are and where we stand in the world and in their wake have left an uneasy co-existence: science vs. religion, faith vs. empirical enquiry. Which is the keeper of truth? Which is the true path to understanding reality?

I'm amazed!
Revisado: 07-01-19
I could only comprehend and internalize a portion of the intense wisdom presented by the Dali Lama. I am absolutely amazed. This book gives me so much hope that compassion can exist in the modern material world I love in. I want to study this and read it over and over. So grateful for how this helped my agnostic husband and I (Christian) to connect and understand each other better.

Should make a sequel.
Revisado: 02-27-19
I want to give jack black a high five for this. It feels like an amazing roleplay perspective of someone playing minecraft and getting into the game over time, while making some subtle jokes about the player. Max Brooks brings in a great survival mindset and lessons as well.

Historia
Despite constant efforts to declutter your home, do papers still accumulate like snowdrifts and clothes pile up like a tangled mess of noodles?Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole new level, promising that if you properly simplify and organize your home once, you'll never have to do it again. Most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever.

I am so grateful for this guide
Revisado: 02-20-19
I have always been interested in organization, but seemed to have to confront it daily. Also, I have lived with very messy people who pile things and leave them about the house. Because I was the one who wanted them organized and put away, I am often the one asked where to find a specific object. While listening to the audio book, my husband started to hear the lessons too and is fully on board with us going through the KonMarie tidying up method. I'm excited for the order and peace that I have already started to feel from simply her folding style.

Historia
Drawing on dozens of intimate audio interviews with families from all across the country, award-winning psychologist and writer Andrew Solomon redefines what it means to be an “ideal family” in America today. Solomon observes that America, led in large part by the women’s, civil rights, and gay rights movements, has undergone a radical social shift in the last few decades. Although the structure of family has changed, economic and legal structures lag behind and need to adapt to accommodate this explosive new reality.

What an eye opening look into family
Revisado: 12-25-18
What family means is now not so narrowly defined. There are so many possible paths, some taken by choice, others arrived at by circumstance. I am grateful that my choice is accepted in society. I don't have to feel secretive about my way of life or worry about my legal rights to my spouse and child. This story has given me greater insight into the lives of others who look very different from mine, but share the same goal of love in life.
