Historia
The Farmhouse, having stood against time and history for nearly 160 years in the Virginia countryside, was forgotten and abandoned until Kyle and Jenny Dowling moved in during the summer of 1972. The Dowlings, married just a year, are struggling to repair their broken marriage. It was to be the perfect place, away from it all, to heal their relationship. Jenny would write, and Kyle would tend to minor renovations. The rent was cheap.

Entrancing Story
Revisado: 06-03-22
This beautifully written story creates such amazing visuals. I could absolutely picture the details of the property, the town, and the people. The tale is sad, haunting, and somewhat disturbing, but there is hope intertwined, as well. Jennifer March’s narration adds to the eerie aspects of the story. A great listen!

Richard doesn’t have a past. For him, there is only the present: a new marriage to Tamara, a first chance at fatherhood to her son, Elijah, and a quiet but pleasant life as an art teacher at Elijah’s elementary school in Danvers, Virginia. Then the body of a rabbit, ritualistically murdered, appears on the school grounds with a birthday card for Richard tucked beneath it. Richard doesn’t have a birthday - but Sean does.... Sean is a five-year-old boy who has just moved to Greenfield, Virginia, with his mother.

Fantastic!
Revisado: 05-18-22
What an amazing story! When I think of the Satanic Panic of my childhood, this is exactly how I remember it. Parents seeing the devil in everything, prayer groups in our houses, being made aware of the symbolism of Satanic worship so to not be lured in. There were a lot of situations, such as those in this book, on the news and the constant excuse of “the Devil made me do it”. This book evoked all these memories while spinning its own tale full of twists and turns in a study of the impact of accusations on the families and communities involved. Chapman creates a continuous atmosphere of anxiety and tension as he guides us through the lives of his characters. A great novel! Highly recommend!

Great Story!
Revisado: 05-16-22
I really enjoyed the story. From the very start, I was drawn to the characters and felt their emotions as if I was in the story myself. The narration was great. The different voices and accents really aided in following the characters. I look forward to reading or listening to the next book in the series.

Historia
What if there's another side to Donald Trump? A sensitive, poetic side? Driven by this question, Rob Sears began combing The Donald's words for signs of poetry. What he found was a revelation. By simply taking the President's tweets and transcripts, cutting them up, and reordering them, he unearthed a trove of beautiful verse that was just waiting to be discovered.

Great break

This was a perfect, satirical listen for a much needed respite from the real world. It made me laugh many times. Some parts made me cringe, but they reflected the truth of this guy’s thinking.

Historia
Serial killers come in all shapes and sizes, but this one is particularly puzzling. There's no pattern to the mutilated bodies that have been showing up in Albuquerque: The victims have been both sexes and all races, ages, and ethnic groups. There is no evidence of rape or ritual. Only one thing connects the victims: They were the victims of a natural disaster - one of the most unnatural natural disasters imaginable - leading to a most painful, most certain, and most hideous death.

X Marks the Spot
Revisado: 04-27-16
I love anything X-Files, so I don't critique these stories too much. However I can get a dose of Mulder and Scully, I will take it. I finally got used to Patrick Lawlor's narration in this book. I found his voice rather grating in the last one. Of course the next book has a new narrator, so I'll have to readjust. Although I read this book many years ago, I didn't recall the storyline very well, so it was a pleasant listen.

It's an X-Files book. I'm pre-disposed to love it. I read it before, many years ago, and enjoyed both reads. Typical storyline...recognizable characters...fun exploits.

Fun as always
Revisado: 03-28-16
I enjoyed the stories and references to some details from episodes. I didn't really like the story with Mulder and Scully married, but was actually more offended by the portrayal of Dana's mother than the actual marriage piece.
