This is without a doubt one of the best portrayals of a neurodivergent person and one of my favorite books
Revisado: 04-07-24
I initially came to this book after watching the movie about 10 years ago, since then I've probably read it 5-10 times but I've lost count. I very recently found out I am probably autistic(I'm 34, around the age of the protagonist), at least have an attention deficit and a social disorder, and I finally understand why I empathized so much with Pat and Tiffany(the main characters) over the years, it's because they are wonderful renditions of traits from a neurodivergent spectrum.
I would put it up there with the classics of north American literature along Hemingway and Fitzgerald, it is no small thing managing to create a great portrayal of a person's brain when they don't fit in the "normal" spectrum, and it is much more impressive that it does so with through a wonderful story full of life-like characters that you get to love throughout the story, with all the grey tones a real person would have.

Historia
The sand-blasted world of Arrakis has become green, watered, and fertile. Old Paul Atreides, who led the desert Fremen to political and religious domination of the galaxy, is gone. But for the children of Dune, the very blossoming of their land contains the seeds of its own destruction. The altered climate is destroying the giant sandworms, and this in turn is disastrous for the planet's economy.

A fantastic and devastating story.
Revisado: 09-18-20
I'll say it from the beginning, I absolutely miss the diverse cast of voice actors from the first book and the sound effects, as far as audiobook quality, that was on another level.
Regardless of what I just mentioned, this is a story worth listening/reading in whatever format you prefer, more active and relevant to the story than Dune's Messiah, definitely a must.
Letho, the preacher, Duncan Idaho and Alliah are complex characters that I'm glad to see fully developed here, each getting their own time and protagonism, though I wish there'd been more Ghanima.

A must read hidden behind an annoying curtain.
Revisado: 04-22-20
The methods of non violent communication are fantastic, up to the point I was not able to bear the narrator anymore, it had already helped me manage a a fight with my direct boss, and turn it into a Pacific negotiation for my unmet needs, this is definitely a must read for self development.
Unfortunately, the narrator keeps gurgling and swallowing saliva every 5 words per sentence, at first I found it somewhat ASMRish, a few hours in I thought I was just not in a relaxed state to listen to it; but closing in on the last hour of the book I found I could not bear it anymore, I was having to use the book's strategies to manage anger, which I was building unnecessarily, trying to listen to the low quality of the book.
If you're in the mood for a relaxing listen, this might do it for you, but sometimes I just want a straight to the point, no lip smacking or gurgling, non interrupted narration, because the tone and voice of the narrator was fine, but very distracting with the noises. Besides, the audio is generally too low, so headphones are necessary if you plan on listening while doing chores.

Historia

One of the most significant books ever written by a head of state, the Meditations are a collection of philosophical thoughts by the Emperor Marcus Aurelius (121 - 180 ce). Covering issues such as duty, forgiveness, brotherhood, strength in adversity and the best way to approach life and death, the Meditations have inspired thinkers, poets and politicians since their first publication more than 500 years ago. Today, the book stands as one of the great guides and companions - a cornerstone of Western thought.

Historia
Four decades after it first shook the nation, then the world, William Peter Blatty's thrilling masterwork of faith and demonic possession returns in an even more powerful form. Raw and profane, shocking and blood-chilling, it remains a modern parable of good and evil and perhaps the most terrifying novel ever written.

Historia
The year is 2033. The world has been reduced to rubble. Humanity is nearly extinct and the half-destroyed cities have become uninhabitable through radiation. Beyond their boundaries, they say, lie endless burned-out deserts and the remains of splintered forests. Survivors still remember the past greatness of humankind, but the last remains of civilisation have already become a distant memory. Man has handed over stewardship of the earth to new life-forms. A few score thousand survivors live on, not knowing whether they are the only ones left on Earth....

Dark philosofy meets The Road of Mccarthy!
Revisado: 10-06-18
Definitely not a light and easily digestible read, its quite meaty and filling, leaves you thinking for a while. Think the fallout games without corny humour and with a philosofy minor thrown in for kicks.
If you're into hard sci-fi, horror, dark magic, demons, mutants, aliens, fascists, the never ending search for the purpose of life, pork and mushroom tea, you'll love this book.
