Historia
Lewis has helped Peter Ash out of more trouble than Peter cares to remember. So he doesn’t hesitate when Lewis asks a favor in return. Lewis has left his criminal past behind, but a former associate may be in trouble, and he and Peter must drive into the teeth of a blizzard to find him. When they discover blood in the snow and a smoldering cabin, both men know things are bad. Then they learn that someone has stolen notebooks full of incriminating secrets about Lewis's long-ago crimes, and realize the situation is much worse than they'd thought.

Great continuation of the Lady Astronaut series
Revisado: 10-26-20
This is a great series very well performed by the author. It's an alternative history version of the exploration of space that was caused by the arrival of a meteor that will eventually kill all humans on earth. Very enjoyable characters among them Elma York and Nicole Wargin. This book "The Restless Moon" set in the early 1960's details the problems of going to space at a time when many on earth think they should concentrate efforts on earth alone. Nicole Wargin uses her experience as a spy during World War 2 to stop "Earth First" efforts to turn away from space. There's great tragedy and deceit. I hope very much the story continues in a 4th novel.

Pitted against the Russians are a Marine lieutenant colonel pulled out of a cushy Pentagon job, a French Special Forces captain and his intelligence operative father, a young Polish partisan fighter, an A-10 Warthog pilot, and the commander of an American tank platoon....

Worthy succesor to Tom Clancy!
Revisado: 02-24-20
Full of non stop action this novel is fantastic. Mark Vietor does a great job as narrator. The Russians develop a plan to take over a rare earth mine in Africa. They stir up trouble between China and Taiwan to draw attention to Asia. Then they do a lighting raid into Germany to destroy the NATO command that oversees Africa. They also destroy all communication between Europe and the United States. Combining submarines, A-10 Warthogs, M1A2 tanks, and a host of Russian military units the story is mesmerizing. I heartily recommend this novel for all those who enjoyed Tom Clancy's novels.

Samantha is a professional seductress and con artist with a heart of gold. If she talked about her work, she’d tell you she only pilfers organs for medical research and that she only takes one kidney, and she only steals those kidneys from dishonest people. It’s hell on her social life. Abe is the doctor and Sam's partner in crime. He isn’t much of a criminal. Except for the kidney stealing. But he’s using that money to fund his research that he anticipates will be able to cure diabetes. So, all for a good cause...? You decide. Of course, it's hell on his social life.

A true masterpiece of alternative history, I hope.
Revisado: 01-18-20
I hope it is alternative and never comes to ...death. The performances are excellent, the story unfolds a little scattershot but that emphasizes the total world war that it portrays. Max Brooks creates a world that is once horror and damned interesting. I listen to books while I walk for exercise. I found myself walking an extra two hours a day because I just had to continue on with the book. I would only stop because I realized I wanted to save the rest for the next day. Every one of the cast was brilliant, their voices imparting their part of the story as authentic and real. Highly recommend this to anyone with a sci-fi or horror interest.

But Shining is now something more than human. And the scrapyard is no longer just a scrapyard, but a place full of secrets. This life she has built, while empty, is predictable and safe. Sunshine is a Queen!
Revisado: 01-15-20
This book centers on Sunshine who operates a junkyard in the desert of West Virginia after a nuclear war and invasion of aliens decimates the earth. She's just trying to get along in the wild and crazy dystopia. The book is filled with action mixed with wry humor. Kristine Hvam does a very good job as the narrator. I hope there is a sequel or this is a start of a series. Very enjoyable.

Historia
An online video of a girl clawing at the ceiling of her own grave could be the worst thing FBI forensic psychologist Zoe Bentley has ever seen. Perhaps even more disturbing is the implication of the video’s title: “Experiment Number One.” Zoe and her partner, Special Agent Tatum Gray, work as fast as they can to find the monster behind the shocking video, but soon another one shows up online, and another girl turns up dead.

Excellent who-done-it
Revisado: 01-11-20
Story centers with two main characters, Special Agent Tatum Grey and Dr. Zoey Bentley. They are assigned a missing woman's case in Texas. Someone is burying women alive, recording it and streaming it live and delayed. A very good performance by Brittany Pressley who does an admirable job with a Boston Accent. The story quickly evolves into a murder mystery as another body turns up then more. The story evolves naturally and includes some past history for insights. There are humorous moments in the story as well as one of horror. It is well balanced and very easy to listen to. You don't need to listen to the first Zoe Bentley novel to enjoy this one. I do like a story that keeps you guessing to the last.

Back when Harry Bosch was just a rookie homicide detective, he had an inspiring mentor who taught him to take the work personally and light the fire of relentlessness for every case. Now that mentor, John Jack Thompson, is dead, but after his funeral his widow hands Bosch a murder book that Thompson took with him when he left the LAPD 20 years before - the unsolved killing of a troubled young man in an alley used for drug deals.

I love the character of Harry Bosch and followed him all over LA and Hong Kong. Titus Welliver and Christine Lakin give an outstanding performance. When Captain Kyle Mercer of the Army’s elite Delta Force disappeared from his post in Afghanistan, a video released by his Taliban captors made international headlines. But circumstances were murky: Did Mercer desert before he was captured? Then a second video sent to Mercer’s Army commanders leaves no doubt: The trained assassin and keeper of classified Army intelligence has disappeared.

Captain Kyle Mercer is crazy.
Revisado: 12-30-19
This is the first in what is supposed to be a three book series. CID agents Scott Brodie and Maggie Taylor are sent to Venezuela to track down and apprehend Captain Kyle Mercer who deserted a year ago while stationed in the Middle East. Two soldiers died while trying to find him. This had a few very good moments but the trouble is they were few and far apart. Scott Brick gave a very good performance. The book was 20 hours long and it could easily have been reduced to 15 hours by eliminating the almost constant introspection by the character of Scott Brodie. For me it killed the pacing of the story. Not to mention I guessed the outcome of the story about 10 hours in. I've read or listened to Nelson DeMille's books and enjoyed them all but this was a disappointment.
