Wow. Yet again, Mr. Atkinson does a superb job of taking the listener on a wide journey from D-Day to the end of the war. Cannot suggest this book high enough BUT be aware... you will listen to all of Rick's knowledge and findings about all the statistics about this crusade in Europe. You will feel like a soldier and boy will you be exhausted but way smarter. Excellent narration.

Can't recommend high enough

This is one of the best books I have ever listened to or read. It is pivotal to understand who we were and how we started. This book and the rest of the series should be mandatory reading at the gradeschool level, at least starting at grade 6. Then, the same should be done for war of 1812 (I was raised in Toronto).
All Americans should read or listen to this book and Ken Burns should use it to make a trilogy of films. Ken... you listening? Do it like you did Civil War and get it done and on PBS soon.. our current political situation and everyone involved can learn TONS from this book. Toward the end of the book, listen for undisclosed references to CIA-type operations.

Don't let it offend your beliefs

It is interesting to note how old this book is. Toward the end of the book, it did cause me a little distress because the book has made assertions that seem to contradict assertions in prior chapters. Suffice to say, you must understand what the author is attempting to do here. Then you will see it is not intending to offend your sensibilities and understanding of the world. It may seem a bit preachy and I am being kind. Truth is with another narrator the result might have been different. Remember, listening to audio books confronts your own inner voice you have when reading anything, so a voice that comes at you differently can be offensive and crude. After listening, it ended as I expected and I was not disappointed. After listening to many and reading far more on UFO's, ancient cultures and ultra-terrestrials, this book was a good addition to that list, but this is NOT the first book I would recommend on the subject. I would say however, that this book is a great way to END research on the topic(s).

the voice over person does not understand that you do not need to say the word QUOTE every single bloody time!! My god this abuse destroyed the book for me. I don't care what excuse there is, if everyone did this audio books would be destroyed.
