Nicolas Fiorillo is a brilliant and ambitious 15-year-old from the slums of Naples, eager to make his mark and to acquire power and the money that comes with it. With nine friends, he sets out to create a new paranza, or gang. Very good, however
Revisado: 01-11-21
The main character Nicholas . Is highly unlikable. I mean an absolute garbage person . I would recommend the book . But just beware he is awful . The book can also be quite disturbing at times .

Historia
Before the Five Families who so notoriously dominated U.S. organized crime for a bloody half-century, there was the one-fingered, surpassingly cunning Giuseppe Morello and his murderous coterie of brothers. Born into a life of poverty in rural Sicily, Morello became an American nightmare, pioneering the bizarre initiation rituals, imaginative protection rackets, influential underworld reigns, and Mafia wars later popularized by countless books, television shows, and movies.

Historia
Using newly released FBI files, eyewitness accounts, and family mementos, Top Hoodlum takes you inside the Mafia that Frank Costello helped build from the ground up, from small-time bootlegging and gambling to a nationwide racketeering empire. Sometimes shocking, sometimes amusing, and always riveting, these are the stories that have inspired American crime classics like The Godfather, Casino, Goodfellas, and The Sopranos. This is the man who made the Mafia such a powerful force in our nation's history. This is Top Hoodlum.

Slow burn . Great ending
Revisado: 06-28-20
For me, the book can get a little boring and hard to follow in the middle, particularly the descriptions of his trials or those trials related to him in someway. The book is best once the hearings begin. The famous hands, the “chin” incident etc...
Last part of the book really shines! Worth the effort to get there .

Historia
For years, the DeCavalcantes, the most powerful Mob family in Jersey, labored in the shadows of the more famous families in New York - the likes of the Gambinos and the Columbos. Dismissed by the big-city capos, the DeCavalcantes finally came into their own when they found their lives mirrored in the television hit, The Sopranos. Overnight it legitimized the made men of the Garden State. Now they were a familia to be reckoned with. Unfortunately with high profile came high risk.

Revisado: 06-09-20
Good god . This book is all over the place . The most consistent story in the book is about an informant called “raaaallllppphhhiieeee” as the narrator annoying refers to him . Recording ridiculous conversations with a number of different “joeys” ughhh awful book . Skip it
