Historia
Tamsyn Muir’s Gideon the Ninth unveils a solar system of swordplay, cut-throat politics, and lesbian necromancers. Her characters leap out of the audio, as skillfully animated as arcane revenants. The result is a heart-pounding epic science fantasy. Brought up by unfriendly, ossifying nuns, ancient retainers, and countless skeletons, Gideon is ready to abandon a life of servitude and an afterlife as a reanimated corpse.

Fun. Not art, very gory, but 100% fun.

Wild.
Revisado: 01-20-23
Engaging narration on a complex story. Ultimately this was a satisfying read. The "what is going on?!?!" factor is cranked up to 20. Gideon's rocket raccoon snarkiness kept me turning the page. And while I love that there's a fandom and passion for this series, I'm not sure I would continue on. Maybe one day, but I need an easier to follow read after this one.

Another great Strike novel and performance
Revisado: 12-26-22
Robert Glenister brings Strike and Robin to life with another great performance in The Ink Black Heart. While I began this novel with Troubled Blood being my favorite of the series, I'm left wondering if that will now change. The Ink Black Heart is Strike, and especially Robin, coming into their own. as partners. Galbraith continues to raise the stakes and still win the hand with each installment. I can't wait to see what's next.

From On Writing to Billy Summers...
Revisado: 08-24-21
Trust that Stephen King is going to tell you a good story and let the rest play out with this one. As a writer, lost in all of life's curve balls during the pandemic, Billy Summers resonates on many levels. Paul Sparks delivers an amazing performance. Truly. I'm reminded of On Writing after reading this book, leaving it inspired and hopeful to tell stories. Fans of horror and suspense won't find that here, but there are subtle call backs to books of King past. Unlike prior books, however, King nails the ending and I get the sense he's very satisfied with Billy Summers at this point in his career.
