Historia
The Bhagavad Gita, "The Song of the Lord", is the best known of all the Indian scriptures, and Easwaran's reliable and accessible version has consistently been the best-selling translation. Easwaran's introduction places the Gita in its historical setting and brings out the universality and timelessness of its teachings. Chapter introductions give clear explanations of key concepts in that chapter.

Historia
Einstein overthrew Newtonian physics but like Newton he still believed that physical events have definite causes. Then Niels Bohr, a Danish physicist, joined others in describing a strange new world of uncertainty and mystery. Quantum mechanics has intrigued and confounded many by joining keen insights with apparent contradictions and indeterminacy. Quantum theory also was later used to create semiconductors, the technology of the computer revolution.

Good Story, ridiculous impersonations
Revisado: 02-05-21
The history of the atomic understanding is well recounted. Also the citations from famous key scientists are well chosen. However, the mimickery of voices of the European scientists and their ridiculous artificial (I suppose these were meant to suggest authenticity) misrepresentations of the likes of Einstein, Bohr, etc. Makes this at times an unbearable listening. Fortunately, these were short (~5%) compared to the overall story, which is pretty good. Keep in mind that with NEW Understanding, this book ends with the understanding of EP&R in 1935.

What a wonderful overview of the wide and diverse field of Mathematics
Revisado: 12-11-20
What a great overview of the wide and diverse field of Mathematics. I have enjoyed listening to this book together with my 13 yo son, who had hundreds of questions throughout the journey through this book. What a great conversation starter with a teen who’s otherwise tough to get engaged. I found this book very good to follow. It attracted the curiosity of my teen boy equally as much as mine. The narrator was top notch, too. This audiobook really works, it’s a five star.
Dear Prof. Strogatz, you have this special talent of addressing people across different generations and walks of life. Please keep your books/columns coming. They have a special value in our current society, by pointing out the beauty and satisfaction of deeper insights, the rewards of education. A joyful read/listen from start to finish.

Historia
At some point, every one of us embarks on a journey to find love. We meet people, date, get into and out of relationships, all with the hope of finding someone with whom we share a deep connection. This seems standard now, but it’s wildly different from what people did even just decades ago. Single people today have more romantic options than at any point in human history. With technology, our abilities to connect with and sort through these options are staggering. So why are so many people frustrated?

This is a really good book!!!
Revisado: 10-02-20
I am very impressed how this book finds a very competent balance between analytical rigor, data-based learning and hilarious anecdotes. I have thoroughly enjoyed all chapters. I also enjoyed their logic buildup and flow. Yes, brother, I know you didn’t expect to be lauded for writing an excellent documentary. But Modern Romance is exactly that. It’s an excellent portrayal of our vastly changing society to a point that we often ask ourselves what’s happening around us? Why do we feel left out more than ever despite all this connectivity? Ansari’s book has the answers well researched and wonderfully written up. It’s great to hear about this complex topic, that quickly could become depressing, explained with ample wit and narrated with such an upbeat attitude. Great job! I enjoyed every minute.

Very important message
Revisado: 07-13-19
I listened to all 3 books with my son and we both learned or re-learned a lot. This is overall a wonderful book series and is perfect as a trilogy. We found it a let down that the narration of the last book is so sleepy. It seems that the narrator is constantly suppressing his yawning. Which made me yawn several times and also made me fall almost asleep while driving. So, don’t listen to this book and drive. I recommend to the narrator to get more sleep, and to the author to stick with the narrators of book 1 (secret life of trees) and book 2 (secret love few of animals). They were perfect in every way. Overall, I am very impressed with this trilogy. A beautiful message to our young.

Historia
It was on the Silk Roads that East and West first encountered each other through trade and conquest, leading to the spread of ideas, cultures, and religions, and it was the appetites for foreign goods that drove economies and the growth of nations. From the first cities in Mesopotamia to the emergence of Greece and Rome to the depredations by the Mongols, the transmission of the Black Death, the struggles of the Great Game, and the fall of Communism - the fate of the West has always been inextricably linked to the East.

Pretty Fantastic world history from a valid perspective
Revisado: 12-23-18
Frankopan keeps a strong focus on the Eurasia and thereby meets my expectations on this book. Much of his story line is indeed very gripping and it was hard to put it down at times. Especially, in combination with other world history books like Guns, Germs, and Steel, this book gives a great perspective to how we got to today’s global setting. The narrating was ok. Very good at times, but his suppressed yawns were so frequent that it took away from the excitement of the story line. It made me yawn even though the story was exciting, which felt odd. I still recommend this audiobook highly.

Titan is the first full-length biography based on unrestricted access to Rockefeller’s exceptionally rich trove of papers. A landmark publication full of startling revelations, the book indelibly alters our image of this most enigmatic capitalist. Born the son of a flamboyant, bigamous snake-oil salesman and a pious, straitlaced mother, Rockefeller rose from rustic origins to become the world’s richest man by creating America’s most powerful and feared monopoly, Standard Oil. Branded "the Octopus" by legions of muckrakers, the trust refined and marketed nearly 90 percent of the oil produced in America.
