A wonderful dual timeline story from the Revolutionary War

I havent typically been a fan of dual timelines in the past, but the blurb for this book drew me in. Liberty Ridley is someone from 2026 who has ties to a female spy in the Revolutionary War. In an experiment done by a Harvard professor in her time, she is able to go back in time and meet her ancestor, Prudence Darrow. Liberty also meets someone who will have a lasting impact on her contemporary life. This story was really well done. The only thing I didn't like was how often God's name was taken in vain in this "Christian fiction" novel. Way too much of "Oh my G_ _!" and "Good G _ _!" For Christian fiction, this part was truly disappointing.

I really loved the thrill of this story. It took just a short while for me to guess who the villain was, but once I figured it out, I was solid in that knowing. This story kept me on my toes from the beginning, right up to the end!

I love how Eason weaves a true faith and trust in God throughout her stories. one of my favorite pieces of dialogue from this story:

Cal: He's the one true God. He died for you because He loved you so much. And that, you have to believe that and accept that when you die. Do you believe that?

Abby: Yes, I do believe that.

Cal: Then you've got to believe everything else He says, because you can't pick and choose which parts of the Bible are true, and which ones you don't like.

I've read a few Lynette Eason books now, and she never fails to disappoint. Great suspense, and I love how she ties in faith.

I listened to the 1st two books with my 9 year old son, and we enjoyed them. I wish I hadn't wasted an Audible credit on this 3rd book! 😭 Within the first few chapters, the kid uses the word "damn" way too often for me to be ok with my kiddo listening to it. We were really looking forward to listening to this book, but we are incredibly disappointed to have to abandon it before finishing it. I only wish I had read the reviews here on Goodreads before getting it from Audible.

My 7 year old LOVES these books!!

My 7 year old is the baby of the family and always wanting everyone to play with him. His older brother and sister are teen and tween and they don't always want to play, so we have him get his Lego blocks and he will sit and play with them for a couple of hours while listening to Jennifer's books. This is the 3rd one we have listened to so far and we love them. Even my older two will air and listen for a bit. Playing them while on road trips helps to break up the monotony of the miles too! These books are well written and well narrated, keeping our attention and causing us to want to hear more.

I listened to this story with my 7 year old son as I decorated cookies and he played with Legos. I thought that this would be similar to the original Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and while it did have it's similarities, it also was very different. A very well written story that kept us captivated the entire time!
