Historia
Jodi and Todd are at a bad place in their marriage. Much is at stake, including the affluent life they lead in their beautiful waterfront condo in Chicago, as she, the killer, and he, the victim, rush haplessly toward the main event. He is a committed cheater; she lives and breathes denial. He exists in dual worlds; she likes to settle scores. He decides to play for keeps; she has nothing left to lose. Told in alternating voices, The Silent Wife is about a marriage in the throes of dissolution, a couple headed for catastrophe, concessions that can’t be made, and promises that won’t be kept.

Amazing story
Revisado: 10-18-21
Ten minutes in I thought this story was going to be another dreary divorce saga. Then one line and u was hooked. I finished the book in less than twenty four hours. It was an amazing story with a satisfying ending.

A wonderful new find
Revisado: 08-07-17
Would you listen to The Murderer in Ruins again? Why?
So happy i found this book. Listened to it and immediately bought the new one, The Wolf Children. Please Audible, buy the English translations of the rest of the author's books.
The story was compelling but what i loved the most is having the story set in a time and place that i knew little about, namely early post WWII Germany.
I am hooked. And i don't often take time to write a review.
What did you like best about this story?
The setting.
What does Mark Meadows bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He didn't get in the way of the story.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes

Unbelievable
Revisado: 09-23-09
I really wanted to like this book. I like the time period and the setting and even the premise. But I just could not like it. The dialogue was very melodramatic and the whole scenario just was implausiable to the nth degree. I can live with some degree of unbelievability in a book but this was too much.

Historia
The Bodies Left Behind is an epic cat-and-mouse chase, told nearly in real-time, and is filled with Deaver's patented twists and turns, where nothing is what it seems, and death lingers just around the next curve on a deserted path deep in the midnight forest.

This book grabbed my attention right from the beginning. It was everything I enjoy in a book. I found myself looking for jobs to do around the house so I had an excuse to listen to the book.

A successful change of scenery
Revisado: 07-15-08
I was salivating waiting for this book to be released and it didn't disappoint me.
It was at the same time similar and yet slightly different from his previous books. It was different in that Dave was even more reflective than usual (maybe even more depressed) and it also showed some character change in a "bad guy".
The ending was a real cliff hanger and resolved the story in a very satisfying way.
This book did not disappoint at all although I wondered why no even casual update on what Dave's daughter was doing.

Historia
In the tradition of Bertrand Russell's Why I Am Not a Christian and Sam Harris' recent best-seller, The End of Faith, Christopher Hitchens makes the ultimate case against religion. With a close and erudite reading of the major religious texts, he documents the ways in which religion is a man-made wish, a cause of dangerous sexual repression, and a distortion of our origins in the cosmos.

Wow
Revisado: 09-22-07
While I have often enjoyed this author's contributions in the magazine Vanity Fair, I didn't realize his talent with the English language until I listened to this book. Hitchens does a number on all religions and makes a very credible arguement to explain why man needed religion to explain natural phenomenon in the world during a time when science was in its infancy. I laughed out loud at some of his wry comments and am just disappointed that there are not more of his writings available.

Way too over the top.
Revisado: 08-17-05
This is the first audiobook I have listened to that I disliked. It was way too over the top, too implausible in every way. It went on and on in the same vein for hours and I can't believe that I finished it. Don't waste your time with this one.
