Price Crow first saw Sabrina Proctor in the middle of a hurricane. She’d been sitting next to her dead best friend, who’d passed away on the beach, with no way to get her back home, thanks to the world’s worst luck and one hell of a storm. So Price does what any decent person would do: He carries Sabrina’s dead best friend to their beach house and doesn’t leave her side until he’s forced to. He had every intention of bridging that gap, of checking up on her and making sure she was okay, but life is funny and has a way of making a mockery of the best-laid plans.

I crave attention. It’s not frowned upon to want someone’s love and affection, but it is when you know that you’ll never return the same for another person. He loved me every day for nine years. He gave me everything I asked for. His affection was only for me. But when he wanted a stable position in our relationship, I couldn’t give it, because there were some many others that could offer the same. I didn’t want to settle. Or at least I didn’t think I did, until I learned he was getting married.

I've loved Danny since I was five. He's loved me longer. It seemed destined that we would be together; it seemed like the stars had aligned. Then we grew up, and life got in the way. He's stepping up to be president of the motorcycle club we grew up in. And I want no part in it. I want to be free, to travel the world and experience life without violence. He's not willing to give up the club. I'm not willing to be an old lady. But giving him up is like losing a part of myself.
