Super Fun Book
Revisado: 02-09-25
This was a fun fictional romp through the history of Barbie and the bad behavior and politics of the process. Well written. Loved the story!!
The narrator was good not amazing. She delivers the story but didn’t necessarily add to it. Her narration felt overly stylized and not natural.

Not an endearing heroine
Revisado: 11-20-24
While well written and researched, this was not a very exciting book. Which is sad. Because by nature of the topic it should be.
The heroine was not the least bit endearing, which is very much counter what we would expect. That being said, this was a situation where the narrator is further a detriment to the story. While skilled, she actually added to the problem with the heroine. Not at all adding a shred of likeability to the character. While I understand she was a haughty woman in a lofty position. She still needed to resonate with the reader—lest that was the authors goal. This could’ve been conveyed a little better with the right choice of narrator.

A bit long winded. Slow story progression
Revisado: 10-06-24
The story was slow in progressing. At chap 64 we still don’t have the fusion of the 1997 story with the 1930s story except for one small fact.
It feels disjointed. Like two separate stories, flipping back and forth. Doesn’t quite work. Overall the story ended up being long winded, I kept saying get to the point. The writing is good. The story crafting lacking.
The narrator was perfunctory. Not amazing but not bad. Served the story but added little to it.
Sound engineering needs work. LOTS of annoying mouth noises on the narrator. Wet sounds. Microphone noises.

Historia
Early one morning, less than a month after her 18th birthday, Alexandrina Victoria is roused from bed with the news that her uncle William IV has died, and she is now queen of England. The men who run the country have doubts about whether this sheltered young woman, who stands less than five feet tall, can rule the greatest nation in the world. Surely she must rely on her mother and her venal advisor, Sir John Conroy, or her uncle, the Duke of Cumberland, who are all too eager to relieve her of the burdens of power.

Book is amazing, narrator and sound engineering need work
Revisado: 09-11-24
The book is fantastic. Loved the story. Well written. While the narrator has a pleasant voice, there were tons of mouth noises, ps popping, and wet/dry mouth sounds in this recording. Also at times sounded like water in the background. This is fault of both sound editing and narrator. Found it very very annoying.

Brilliant Book.
Revisado: 09-07-24
Narrator was good. Nothing that stands out.
The Story, however, is fabulous. Well written. The two separate stories of these women are woven together brilliantly through the machinations of a manipulative, powerful man.

Great book. Well written. Narrator very good and story appropriate. However sound engineering needs to take out some of the breaths and mouth noises. Would make the audio amore smooth listen and further flatter the good narration.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Engaging story. Decent narration.
Revisado: 01-11-23
I’m not particularly interested in the current royal family or their drama. Actually I don’t pay attention to them—at all.
However I found this book… intriguing, engaging and overall well done.
At times I found him an excellent narrator, and at others just ok. There were moments he fell into a steady, solider like cadence… and it made total sense based on his profession.
But it was right to hear this story from his lips, and I appreciated that.
The story has very slow moments, then it picked up. I did find myself having to check back in and his voice with that steady cadence could almost work against those slow moments.
I will say the short chapters with ambiguous endings was interesting writing technique.
Given that he’s not a narrator by profession, he did well enough. It is an art, and I appreciated his passion, both as a novice and as someone speaking their truth. We all experience conflict through our own eyes, yet somewhere in the middle lies the truth. So I give him that respect—this is his truth as he experienced it.
Highly recommend this book even to someone like me who’s just curious but has no dog or interest in the Royal drama fight.

Loved this!
Revisado: 07-18-22
I’m a huge fan of strongman, especially Eddie Hall. The story was inspirational, full of hard truths, deep thoughts and some good laughs. I’ve seen Eddie Strong, and other documentaries about his life, still this audiobook delivered on many things I hadn’t heard. I also found him incredibly introspective and refreshingly honest, about himself and the business. Also, he was very gracious, and not all about the boast, which we know and love him for. I enjoyed his narration. As a persona he is charismatic and it delivers in his reading. For true lovers of strongman, this is a delightful journey through the life and times of one of the greats. Loved this. Will listen to it again. For Sure.
