Every year in the United States there are fifteen thousand murders, give or take a few hundred. Of those, nearly forty percent go unsolved. In this six-part audio series, Christina Walsh is determined to change that. After struggling with the loss of her father, she sets out on a journey to bring the justice that has eluded her to the families of other victims. And she starts with a particularly strange case. The murder of world-renowned violinist Leona McPherson who mysteriously disappeared years ago after a concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

Disappointed
Revisado: 04-13-23
I typically love Brandon Sanderson’s work but this was a disappointment. Creative but too much language and the story had too many holes.

Historia
When Nolan Sackett met Penelope Hume in a cantina at Borregos Plaza, the girl immediately captured his attention. That she was heir to a lost cache of gold didn’t make her any less desirable. But Penelope isn’t the only one after her grandfather’s treasure; Sylvie, Ralph, and Andrew Karnes, distant relatives with no legal claim to the gold, are obsessed with claiming the Hume fortune for themselves. Their all-consuming sense of entitlement recklessly drives them to ambush and murder.

Hilarious but...
Revisado: 03-22-19
I feel like she’s using the Lords name in vain and foul language at an increased level. It seems unnecessary in many spots and mars the humor a bit.

Captivating, a bit disturbing but entertaining.

this story dragged on a bit especially toward the end you just wanted to have it over with but it was a good story. it had conflict , love, and plot twists that seemed historically plausible.

Historia
America faces a full-scale socioeconomic collapse in the near future. The stock market plummets, hyperinflation cripples commerce and the mounting crisis passes the tipping point. Practically overnight, the fragile chains of supply and high-technology infrastructure fall, and wholesale rioting and looting grip every major city.

My gateway prepper fiction
Revisado: 08-17-15
I bought this audiobook on cd at a truck stop late one night. I listened to it more than once, buying a cd player to listen to at work when I wasn't driving. When I started an Audible account, this was my first purchase. My wife doesn't like the narrator and there are more engaging stories out there, but this one still gets listened to every once in a while. The next book is probably my favorite of the series, although when a new one comes out, it ends up in my library within days. Does it sound like an item list at times? Yes. Is that a bad thing? No.

Historia
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

I was interested to hear some of the stories that go along with the series. I was very impressed with what the writer has done with one character in particular. I'm much more excited for this series to continue after hearing this story.

Historia
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

Fantastic. The illustration of many miracles.
Revisado: 12-19-12
My wife recommended this book to me years ago and I somehow didn't read it then. Too bad I waited so long for this treat. What a fantastic story. The faith of the people in this book is amazing and beautiful. I came away from this with so many reminders of how blessed the children of God are. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. The narrator did an excellent job. Definitely one to have in every home.

Narrator the worst I've heard.
Revisado: 12-19-12
If you've read any of my other reviews, you'll know there have been some narrators who are bad, but this one is the only one that caused me to stop listening to a story. The story wasn't enough to overcome the narrator. If there was a 0 stars button for the narrator I would give it.
