honestly, I'm a bit heartbroken, one of the strongest starts of all time gets a second book as mediocre as this.

the amount of teenage angst and drama was way way overboard I feel like it's not a good reflection of the first book.

overall good narration as usual and the story continues, but I felt a bit like the story is becoming close to a filler as opposed to advancing speedily.

the book and the series, in general, took a turn for the worse after the attack on the party. The storyline kept getting more nuanced and added new areas of innovation unnecessarily. The tiger tower literally is like a dimensional portal instead of climbing up or down a tower. They magically find a professor in a new city. The person they are looking for is hiding somewhere who also wants to meet them, but the mediator that guides them to him, happens to hide and doesnt look for them?

It was nice while it lasted in book 1 and book 2. I will stop here.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No

point 1: Our main hero aka Badassery Personified just happens to meet the general's niece on her trip to the capital in a random pub in a big city and oh thats not just it either....he agrees to go with her because after two days of meeting her he decides to become her 'friend.' Silly right? nah, not yet. So Badassery Personified lived his whole life in a millitary camp with the best millitary personnel of his age, there his masters told him how society works, the merchant industry, assassin's inner workings, and everything else there is to know including combat....except the concept of friendship LOL. yeah ok.

Point 2: the girl he met in point one happens to be a genral's niece who is raised by a merchant father. She is so ridiculously naive that i can't stand how insulting that is to me as a reader. So you're telling me that a girl who was raised by a successful merchant father, who she supposedly helped in the business, has zero shrewdness and intelligence and throws tantrums because everyone keeps her in the dark. lol. yeah how about no.

Point 3: There is little progression to how naive both characters are. So you start off as naive as a lordling who grew up in heaven, but im sure you grow smarter once life hits you a thousand times on the head? nope the girl gets more annoying and doesn't find out that her friend is a badass assassin (basically everyone knows it except her at some point). Our badassery personified buddy still doesn't get the idea of friendship as well as he should either. I would have liked this book if i was 15 maybe 16...

Have you listened to any of Nick Podehl’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Where does Cephrael's Hand rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

maybe 8th in terms of series.... if im being optimistic

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It was alright

What about Nick Podehl’s performance did you like?

Nick was the highlight of the book and he brought about many interesting inflections in the characters' ...character lol

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

no, too long

Any additional comments?

Boring and predictable and not at all complex emotionally. Kinda underwhelming honestly, and the story does not delve much in the magic aspect and explains it over time but always leaving a bit to be desired.

I felt the book is great overall and it is sensible. But the main character gets annoying after a while. Satisfying things seem to happen but for some reason I don't get the emotional reward all that often from these big events. I didn't really feel like I was drawn in to the whole premise since there's no intricate designs tying anything outside of their corner in the world.

I am sure things will get a bit more interesting as the new books come out. 4/5

What did you love best about Words of Radiance?

Dear god,

Thank you for making me stumble upon reading this book. It's rare when i read a book and I don't know what's going to happen next. I have this gift that many people also have, which is to sort of know or feel what's about to happen in a movie or a story. This leads me to be like ' yup, yup, knew it, of course lol.' But that's not what bothers me the most, it is when characters in a book are so illogically unpredictable to the point that you lose connection with them and find them all of the sudden unbelievable and illegitimate. This is when i stop taking books seriously. All, and yes I mean ALL of these characters are so believable, that you cant help but regret that you wont ever meet them for real.

After reading the wheel of time, something in me died. It felt like an era has passed me by, I never felt like this before nor did I feel like it again even after reading the game of thrones, the name of the wind, the blade itself, and many many many more until i read this series. It rekindled in me something fierce.

But Sanderson though, for real, what have you done man???? You made a 240 pound educated man with the manliest mustache to ever grace the earth tear up, laugh, cheer like a mad man, and act all blushy when the flirting happened. You made me go through emotions so amazingly pure that i rejoiced to the core and ended up in withdrawal after reading your books.

I can't even, when is the next one coming out???? another withdrawal incoming :( lol

Seriously people just do your brain a favor and get this.

Have you listened to any of Michael Kramer and Kate Reading ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

These guys are awesome, and portrayed the characters so seamlessly im surprised they aren't them :D

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The value of your life is determined by your achievement, status, and money.....until society crumbles by the deeds of those with better achievements, higher status, and more money.
