Historia
Steve and Ingrid have escaped the clutches of Athena, but Steve is still learning, both about his place in the world, and his capabilities...not to mention those of the creatures that surround him. Ingrid, too, must find her way in the new reality she finds her world has become, and the pair need a plan. Fortunately, Ingrid’s a lot brighter than Steve, and she’s had plenty of time to plan, to observe, and to build up a festering hatred of her "betters". Steve’s going recruiting—and harvesting. Greece is in for a hell of a surprise.

Ingrid is a failed character
Revisado: 05-06-24
Ok, so I’m nearing the end of the book and it is getting harder and harder to like Ingrid as a character. She has so many character breaking moments in this book that it makes it hard to get through chapters with her in it. One moment she never wants to go through pain like she experienced in the early chapter again even if she dies to choosing to go the more painful route if they ever found that specific way to make her immortal. She shows zero concern with the MC being out in the middle of nowhere with an ancient creature designed and desperate to have sex with males. She also says that if the MC doesn’t let her choose to put both herself and others in danger and make a situation ten times more difficult, due to needing to protect them, then the MC is treating her like a pet. Then the next chapters treating the MC like a misbehaving dog in front of family and then a crowd of strangers. She wants to be his partner yet ignores both his opinions and concerns, which is ironically what she is worried about him doing to her. It’s to the point that I kind of hope that she dies for MC character development.
MC is ok. I think I liked him better in the first book due to the slow character development of the dark brute to the anti-hero. Now he is a weird anti-hero who is confused unsure of what he is.
Their does seem to be a lot of the Author trying to make a political statement rather than tell a story and while the environmental stuff I can get behind I really didn’t come here for the statement. The weird ideas on partnership is off though.
Narration - Narrators did a great job. I loved both the variations of the male and female voices.

Historia
Possibly it's not to save a pair of drowning girls, not go 'viral' on social media and certainly not to let the local police take your passport, trapping you on a small 'party' island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. But Steve isn't the average guy, he's ex-military, ex-enforcer and ex-human. He's a one man nanite fuelled nightmare for those that cross the line, and he's decided that its time to clean up his act. He's going to make up for the things he's done, and save 'the little guys'.

Advanced technology, indistinguishable from magic
Revisado: 05-06-24
Great book! I loved the anti-hero origin story. It’s a slow burn starting off and has some hints at something greater. The ending is oddly super quick for how slow the rest of the book is. Ingrid’s intro is a little out there and it seems a bit love novel fast how quickly the pair get attached given the time that they spent together.
The MC’s growth and system that he uses is different and makes since. The whole book reminds me of the quote “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic” by C. Clarke. The Author does a great job both implementing this and building a world in which this works with people and both their worse and at their best.
Narration - Narrators did a great job. I loved both the variations of the male and female voices.

Great for a Super Harem genre
Revisado: 11-01-22
Extra Tags: Harem, non-fade
Story - Great story. Hero was not as stupid as in most of these types of books. There is a lot of places where the author goes over something again as if the MC didn't just get it explained to him four chapters ago. I mean this was the biggest issue with the book. Well that and you knew who most if not all of his matches were very quickly, which might make the reader frustrated with the MC for making the choices we knew he was going to make. The amount of non-fade to black to fade to black moments was just about right. There is enough story background to support why the MC has a Harem without it feeling forced.
Magic/ superpower - has a great light vs dark thing going on and though the MC is going to be top ranks most of the friction comes from a more political side. one of the characters is a seer which can sometimes end up with them controlling everything due to the MC doing whatever they say but the lay back "let fate do what it needs to" attitude helps keep it away from that.
Narration - Narrators did a great job. I loved both the variations of the male and female voices.

Weird Conversations
Revisado: 07-27-22
Extra Tags: Harem, litrpg, non-fade to Black
Story - The storyline is not that bad and the progression is great. The conversations are where this story falls a bit flat and confusing. For instance MC leaves the group without talking to them during his apology he randomly talk about an dark event in his life that makes him feel like everything is his fault which had nothing to do with his reason for leaving. It was a conversation change that had no reason or ground work. If he were trying to distract the girls it would at least be understandable but this was a just out of left field. That was just one of many conversations that left the feeling that something was missing between to points.
Super Natural - psionic powers! MC and humans are developing along a more magic/psionic tech path while the rest of the universe is on a high tech path. Makes it interesting to see how the differences will play out.
Narration - Narrators did a great job. Rebecca does a great job with the all the different female voices. It's easy to tell who is talking just based on that. Daniel did great as well with various ET life.

Historia
Leonard Dunning wakes up in a home he doesn’t remember—and to a face in the mirror he doesn’t recognize. He soon discovers he attends Blue Cherry High with his best friend, Josh Bernstein, who seems to be the most popular boy in school, with several girls competing for his attention. As the girls collide and clash over the oblivious Josh, Leo realizes each of them displays quirks of characters found in an anime harem comedy. So if Josh is the story’s protagonist, what does that make Leo?

Harem nonHarem
Revisado: 07-12-22
Extra Tags: Harem, non-litrpg
Story - Great story. I love a smart hero. Planners are the best when they are slightly over matched. The MC is quick to grow into his powers near the end which is fine as it isn't over shadowing everything else. The MC's humor is amazing as well. He and a couple of his friends make some great quips back and forth. He has a bit of the Oblivious Harem Protagonist to him but it mostly done in such away that it believable without just making him seem an idiot. Anyway Egathentale does a great job of both making good fun of the Harem tropes and leaning into it. 100% would recommend.
Magic - It is slowly introduced as an underlining building block for the world. The MC's abilities seem to be unique but in no way over powered. He clearly less power full then the others so there isn't a worry of the OP MC that flexes his random power to overcome everything.
Narration - Narrator did a great job for a single Narrator doing both male and female voices. The odd sound that the girls made were still pretty endearing which can be difficult in an audio book.

Historia
The apocalypse began on Bring Your Dog to Work Day. One moment, everything was normal. Then the World Core woke up, and slaughtered almost everything alive so it could harvest their Chi. After that, it rebuilt everything and put the survivors in a game-like environment, pitting them against monsters and each other. The rules are different now. Chi power is as important as being able to fight. I'm one of the survivors. With my knowledge of martial arts and my special Chi skill, I'm turning myself into a force to be reckoned with.

Story - Great story. Gives a reason for why the MC needs a Harem. The Characters are all well defined and the MC has good development. There is good setup for a villain either for the rest of the series or at least the next book. Not sure how I feel about the new bring a pet trend this keeps going but I've seen it done worse. The system in the book gives power for killing and meditating.
Magic - it is kind of a cultivation fantasy but lets you look at the stats.

Out of nowhere, he's whisked away to a fantasy world with game-like stats, monsters that drop loot, gorgeous mages, and a Dungeon to explore. With only the clothes on his back and a single skill bestowed upon him, he has to survive this new world and forge a new life for himself. And perhaps work on getting a harem while he’s at it.

Story - Interesting story line, but I would have loved to stop having everything in the MC life compared to a video game. If someone payed me a dime every time the MC compared the world to a game back home the book would have payed for itself. Also the MC must be wearing his MC badge on his sleeve because without really trying all the girls want him. It is definitely hard to believe the reactions. He doesn't out right OP things so despite his skill which is at least good.
Magic - Doesn't get a lot of explanation on how things work magickly but there is no levels only stats. People can work up stats slowly and get stronger. The MC has an easy Cheat which still works as he still struggle with things.

Loved the take on isekai's
Revisado: 06-30-22
Extra Tags: Harem, Non-fade to black, Non-litrpg,
Story - Great take on the the Hero/Demon Lord isekai story line. The MC gets mad very quickly and makes emotional choices quite often for someone going to college. This moves the plot along but gets a bit old. He is very powerful without destroying the story line by making everything easy. Leaves a nice setup for other partners and other challenges.
Magic - Doesn't get a lot of explanation on how things work other than your Will and Imagination shape it.
Narration - both Narrator's did a great job. The Narration of the Dark Elf teacher was a bit much in certain parts.

Being the tragic hero is kind of his thing
Revisado: 06-30-22
A great addition to the series. It did seem that this one and book 5 should have been one book though I understand why they needed to be separated. Shirtaloon does a great job of merging the old earth with this new one. While Jason is trying to figure out what he has left after all the loss in the last book. Still has great plucky comedic moments and interesting discoveries. By the end of it I was ready to get back to the other world as much as Jason. Jason is a bit of a worse in this one and while it is understandable due to the last book, but some of it I just wanted to skip through. Oh, and Heath Miller was amazing as he always is in this series.

Hard to finish
Revisado: 06-30-22
As a few of the reviews have stated this book will have you thinking of the Shield Hero. I'm not sure if it is just the MC that makes this hard to get though or just the Narrator. He does a great job on the companions but the MC is hard to sit through. The magic system the MC has gives him a major advantage over everyone else which is why he can take on people half again his level. The quarks of his friends are the best thing the book has going for it.
