As good as my imagination is, a lone narrator can make it hard to keep track of lots of characters, and this the plot. The full cast helped keep me engaged and understanding. Thank you all!

I want to rewatch "Quantum of Solace".

Let's be honest; You're not going to verify everything in this book. The second half (the updated portion, I'm guessing) does a decent job on citing sources and supporting material. I haven't gone through any of it yet.

After listening to this, consider controversial projects undertaken in your local governments. Expensive sports stadiums, businesses that demand huge tax breaks despite profitability, and the like. Are things as bad as the book says? Maybe, maybe not, but it's easy to see how profit and "nothing personal, it's just business" is used to justify horrendous acts.

I'm surprised he didn't mention the overthrow of Hawaii's monarchy as an example of corporate country shaping.

A long time favorite, by destiny or choice?

I've been reading this book since middle-school (as well as Last legends of the planet Earth) back in the 80s. It pulls and tugs on many strings of thought, philosophy, and disciplines. I thought of Howlies and Haoles, how those in my church told me of a destiny, and how my physical traits garnered different responses from bullies and benefactors. Sumner Kagan, the protagonist, shared part of my existence from his start to the book's end.

I'm not saying too much about the book itself, though, am I? Well, reader, or un-reader, just know that there's a dystopian future ahead of you, castes based on genetics, and a touch of metaphysics. Don't dwell on how things work now, they'll work differently then. If you're prone to melancholy, maybe skip this for now. As much as I love this book, it drags me down after consuming it. Every time. It's the only one that does, though. Hit Last Legends of the planet Earth or his excellent "Perilous Order of Camelot" series as well.

I'm starting to like forwarding thinking books like this, Flash Foresight, and Humans Need Not Apply. So while the content was ok, it really did drone on from the uninterested narration.

Chapter 9 will pay for the book.

Well, the whole book will pay for itself, but if you want the fast results and a great story, the 9th chapter is where to go. The entire book is great for negotiation and counter-negotiation. I'm looking forward to applying the lessons for work and life. Two teenagers. Hurray!

Goes great with the 4 Hour workweek.

A great book. I just have to get from thinking to doing. The methodology presented for making effective changes, reading through statistics (and other damned lies) and finding out how to find success in unexpected places will be invaluable to anyone. The testing information goes well with Tim Ferriss's 4-hour workweek.
