Historia
Her name is Alicia. She was 13 when she began saving the lives of people she did not know - while fleeing the Nazis through war-ravaged Poland. Her family cruelly wrenched from her, Alicia rescued other Jews from the Gestapo, led them to safe hideouts, and lent them her courage and hope. Even the sight of her mother’s brutal murder could not quash this remarkable child’s faith in human goodness - or her determination to prevail against overwhelming odds. After the war, Alicia continued to risk her life, leading Polish Jews on an underground route to freedom in Palestine.

This is an amazing book.

Truly a great book. My son is reading this in his class and it sparked my curiosity. I like history and overcoming obstacles. There were some parts that made me shiver and gave me tears. I'm so glad this book exists.

The Worst Ideas Ever is a great idea for a book.
Revisado: 09-14-21
This book was great. Very easy to listen to. There were so many things about famous people and events that I didn't know. It makes my dumb ideas seem trivial.

Historia
Millions of people visit xkcd.com each week to read Randall Munroe's iconic webcomic. His stick-figure drawings about science, technology, language, and love have a large and passionate following. Fans of xkcd ask Munroe a lot of strange questions. What if you tried to hit a baseball pitched at 90 percent of the speed of light? How fast can you hit a speed bump while driving and live? If there were a robot apocalypse, how long would humanity last?

Revisado: 09-03-21
This book was great. I could really get into the questions and answers. I love getting some of the insane answers and to such an extreme degree. You don't need a degree in science and math to understand this. It's a really fun book.

Historia
George Orwell depicts a gray, totalitarian world dominated by Big Brother and its vast network of agents, including the Thought Police - a world in which news is manufactured according to the authorities' will and people live tepid lives by rote. Winston Smith, a hero with no heroic qualities, longs only for truth and decency. But living in a social system in which privacy does not exist and where those with unorthodox ideas are brainwashed or put to death, he knows there is no hope for him.

Super informative. There were some parts that took a little smarts to keep along with, but nothing overwhelming. A great book for astronomy and physics nerds like me.

Historia
Lolo Jones' path to becoming a world champion and an Olympian began in childhood with a single mother who worked multiple jobs to support a family of six and a father who was serving time in prison. These early years instilled in Lolo an overcomer's mindset that gave her the strength she needed to rise above an unstable and impoverished background, to earn an economics degree at LSU, and then to establish herself as the best women's hurdler in the world.

But you're here...
Revisado: 08-19-21
Wow is what comes to mind when I finished listening to this amazing story. Lolo is an absolute winner. This book opens eyes to the Olympics, her personal life and yet make the struggles of it all so in touch with the reader. If you're not a sports fan, if you're not a religious person, even if you have no idea about who the author is, that's OK. You do know struggle and you do know life. I honestly can't say enough good things about this book. When she choked up when retelling one of her races, I felt that raw emotion and it hit me in the feels. We all have our losses but she encourages to find the wins. Thank you Lolo Jones, you are a champion to me.
