Historia
Pia Mellody creates a framework for identifying codependent thinking, emotions and behaviour and provides an effective approach to recovery. Mellody sets forth five primary adult symptoms of this crippling condition, then traces their origin to emotional, spiritual, intellectual, physical and sexual abuses that occur in childhood. Central to Mellody's approach is the concept that the codependent adult's injured inner child needs healing.

Heartbreaking yet healing
Revisado: 03-21-21
It is the slap on the face that perhaps you need. However, I (and my therapist) would not recomend this book if you are just waking up to toxicity in your relationships. Wait like 3 years in therapy to start this, otherwise I bet you’ll become defensive about your behavior or your abusers’ behaviors.
And in another note, maybe it’s my spiritual trauma talking, but I dislike how pushy she is with “the higher power” very christian of her... and I don’t trust christians in any spiritual related stuff, because of this tendency to push down peoples throat their ideology.

Historia
Our pets are part of the family. For many they're as close as children; for some they may be our only children. And while most of us can expect that our children will outlive us, sadly, our pets almost never do. Losing a pet can be as difficult as losing any other family member; we grieve, we miss them, and, mostly, we want closure, to know that our furry, feathered, or scaled friends are okay, wherever they are. For years, animal communicator Sonya Fitzpatrick has helped pet owners cope with the loss of their beloved companions. Many of them ask the same questions: Is my pet happy?

Repetitive
Revisado: 07-04-16
Maybe it's that my expectations were that this book was more about emotional intelligence and coping with the pain, but is about spirits, and since it goes on and on whit stuff like " oh Sonya! That's exactly what my pet did!" For 5 hours! Made it feel lika a big infomercial for psychics. In short this book tells you "your pet is fine, it wasn't your fault, there, there"

A book about empathy
Revisado: 03-26-16
It focuses on the empathy and loosing the concept ( like in the movies) of villains and heroes. But I felt that it relies on the hope that not only you'll put yourself in the other person's shoes but that the other person will do the same, in reality this doesn't happens all the time, you cant control that and sometimes people do bad things or behave like assholes, and you just cant make them turn green again.
You have to listen to it several times to really get it in.

Awe and exhilaration—along with heartbreak and mordant wit—abound in Lolita, which tells the story of the aging Humbert Humbert's obsession for the nymphet Dolores Haze. Lolita is also the story of a hypercivilized European colliding with the cheerful barbarism of postwar America.

I loved to hate it
Revisado: 12-10-15
Ok, obviously it's a disgusting topic, but I loved to hate it. Just like if you see Jack Gleeson ( plays Joffrey Baratheon in GOT ) on the streets you would feel like punching him in the face, not because he is a bad actor but because he is a good actor and plays a whiny asshole brilliantly.
I felt curiosity, repulsion, compassion, indignation and sadness for every character of this book; Navokov portraits them with many layers, that makes it feel more real.
The narrator is really good.
English is not my 1st language, but in my opinion I think it's advanced. For me it was a bit hard for me to follow, I had to re listen several times, although I have to say that it was beautifully written almost poetic.

Aghh! The most boring romance novel; I was in agony while listening to it, nothing was happening, I was begging for it to be over.

It met my expectations
Revisado: 11-09-15
I bought this book, well actually I downloaded the app, because I felt lonely and overwhelmed when dealing whit clutter. But I paused the cleaning to listen to de whole book before restarting; it was worth it.
I liked that Andrew Mellen narrated the book, it made me feel like I hired him as a personal organizer.
Its a well rounded book, not minimalistic Throw it all away to the garbage, its the middle path. It has so much to do about you and so little about the actual stuff.
The only thing that I didn't understand is why Andrew was explaining what LOL means? And how to use chats; About that just lol. I would rather hear what to do with paid subscriptions, but are minor things.
And Andrew Mellen I'll really miss you the most :) namaste.
