Historia
The true story of what took place in Donald Trump’s White House during a disastrous 2020 has never before been told in full. What was really going on around the president, as the government failed to contain the coronavirus and over half a million Americans perished? Who was influencing Trump after he refused to concede an election he had clearly lost and spread lies about election fraud? To answer these questions, Phil Rucker and Carol Leonnig reveal a dysfunctional and bumbling presidency’s inner workings in unprecedented, stunning detail.

An Epic Trump teardown
Revisado: 06-19-22
The idea that Trump could fix anything at all, let alone by himself, was something that was absurd to imagine. The authors dug very deep into that concept and peeled back how incredibly incompetent and dangerous Trump really was as president, and continues to be as an ex-president. Very well written and the voice actor was a perfect match for the tempestuous subject.
Highly recommend this book.

Historia
In Catch a Wave, Peter Ames Carlin pulls back the curtain on Brian Wilson, one of popular music's most revered luminaries, as well as its biggest mystery. Drawing on hundreds of interviews and never-before heard studio recordings, Carlin follows the Beach Boys from their earliest days through Brian's deepening emotional problems to his triumphant re-emergence with the release of Smile, the legendarily unreleased album he had originally shelved.

Beach Boys: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
Revisado: 01-16-21
I didn’t really appreciate the Beach Boys, till in 1997 when I heard Pet Sounds at a friends house. She was so enamored with it; and knew the whole story behind it. So I became at first curious, then later on; after reading a book about the BB, a little intrigued.
After I listened to Pet Sounds with head phones, I became a Brian Wilson fan.
This book covers alot of familiar territory. But I still enjoyed how Leaf dug into some new back stories, and filled in a few gaps. Too many Mike Love grievances though. And that Leaf didn't get too far into Dennis' sad decline. A good book for someone new to Brian Wilson.

Historia
In this poignant and disturbing memoir of lost innocence, coercion, survival, and healing, Dianne Lake chronicles her years with Charles Manson, revealing for the first time how she became the youngest member of his Family and offering new insights into one of the 20th century's most notorious criminals and life as one of his "girls". While much has been written about Charles Manson, this riveting account from an actual Family member is a chilling portrait that recreates in vivid detail one of the most horrifying chapters in modern American history.

Lifting the veil of darkness
Revisado: 01-27-20
Dianne Lake always seemed to me as a mystery. Not directly involved in those ghastly murders, but a fly on the wall, someone who could further explain the slow transformation of a hippie family, and fill those mysterious gaps that helped me understand the psychological grip Manson held on those few that chose to stay with him, despite the underlying craziness he formented and refined over several years. Though her voice is a bit emotionless, her story is full of emotional trials and tribulations, that make me wonder, then appreciate how she was able to reclaim her life - despite the horrors of living with a historically vicious madman, who was intent on physically and mentally destroying innocent people's existence without a shred of mercy or decency.
