The narrator leaves much to be desired
Revisado: 03-03-25
I really wanted to finish this audiobook, but found it very hard to do so. Too many sidetracked stories instead of focusing on the title crime at hand. The narrator had a very monotone way of reading, which I found really hard to listen to. In short I couldn’t finish listening to this book!

The book itself was a bit slow moving & although the ending was quite a surprise I also thought it was a bit over the top .

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

The Ending!!
Revisado: 11-09-24
I thought the actors reading their parts in the book did it so well that I could actually see the story unfolding in my mind & feel the emotions of each character. This book definitely keeps you guessing & just when you think you have it all figured out you find out just how wrong you were. The mind blowing ending has you reeling & leaves you smacking your forehead in disbelief! I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good murder mystery!

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Absolutely loved this book!!
Revisado: 10-21-23
I thought I wouldn’t enjoy this book since I know next to nothing about chemistry, but to the contrary I found myself falling for each main character most especially Elizabeth! Then there is the dog 6:30 who you just can’t help but love. The story in itself really got me thinking. I never really understood that women back then had very few choices in life. True we live in a world where much of that has changed but it’s still very much a problem for women who want a career & to be held in the same light as men. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a good, heartwarming story!!
P.S. I could listen to this narrator all day, every day! She has such a pleasant voice, perfect for an audiobook such as this one!

Historia
When 17-year-old Katy Swartz moved to West Virginia right before her senior year, she'd pretty much resigned herself to thick accents, dodgy Internet access, and a whole lot of boring, but then she spotted her hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up...until he opened his mouth. Daemon Black is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. It's hate at first sight, but when a stranger attacks her and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens. The hot guy next door? Well, he's an alien.

Excellent reporting by Nellie Bly
Revisado: 10-31-16
I was shocked & horrified by the mistreatment of the mental patients that were sent to the Blackwell's Island institution for the mentally insane. That being said listening to the story as written by Nellie Bly was an eye opener to the true cruelty that existed for such patients at that time. Nellie Bly herself was an amazing & courageous woman. I highly recommend this book!
