Historia
Jess needs a fresh start. She’s broke and alone, and she’s just left her job under less than ideal circumstances. Her half-brother Ben didn’t sound thrilled when she asked if she could crash with him for a bit, but he didn’t say no, and surely everything will look better from Paris. Only when she shows up – to find a very nice apartment, could Ben really have afforded this? – he’s not there.

A fun and attention grabbing read
Revisado: 06-09-22
overall, I felt the story was well told, well structured, and kept my attention throughout. the reveals were big but not huge. they were just enough reveals and twists to make sense, but not so much that the story loses its meaning.

Historia
Eight-year-old orphan Beth Harmon is quiet, sullen, and by all appearances unremarkable. That is, until she plays her first game of chess. Her senses grow sharper, her thinking clearer, and for the first time in her life she feels herself fully in control. By the age of 16, she's competing for the US Open championship. But as Beth hones her skills on the professional circuit, the stakes get higher, her isolation grows more frightening, and the thought of escape becomes all the more tempting.

Good but I found it boring and slow
Revisado: 11-10-21
I believe this is a older book, according to the copyright dates, but generally speaking I was not excited about this book as I read it. I find myself actually wanting the books that just end and not really wanting to read more to know what happens at the end. I believe the person reading the book did a great job but the story left something to be desired.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

A lot of detail but a good read!
Revisado: 10-23-19
I think this is a great story. I agree with other comments that say there is a lot of detail given in the story but I believe that that adds to the story. It gave me a better visual of Artemis.
I never wanted to stop listening. A good read!

Historia
Why is it so hard to change problem behavior - in our kids, our colleagues, and even ourselves? Conventional methods often backfire, creating a downward spiral of resentment and frustration, and a missed opportunity for growth. What if the thinking behind these old methods is wrong? What if people don’t misbehave because they want to, but because they lack the skills to do better? Or as renowned psychologist J. Stuart Ablon asks, what if changing problem behavior is a matter of skill, not will?

Great!
Revisado: 10-10-19
I think it is a great book. Like another comment said, there is a political section at the end but I don't think he was taking a political side but rather expressing a lack of leadership in this particular area.

Lack of evidence for guidelines
Revisado: 06-19-18
I struggled to finish this book because I was looking for something more evidence based. There were some studies mentioned throughout the book but most of the studies mentioned were studies that were unpublished and conducted by the author.
The suggestion and guidelines offered in the book are great for anyone who is industry but not so good for those of us in academia because a lot of the suggestions seemed to be based in experience and less in published evidence. That's not necessarily bad, depending on what you are looking for.

Historia
While many give their lives to Jesus, few then go on to live a life of truly vibrant faith. In this disruptively inspiring audiobook, Chandler offers tangible ways to develop a faith of pursuing, chasing, knowing, and loving Jesus. Because if we clean up our lives but don't get Jesus, we've lost! So let the goal be Him. To Live is Christ, To Die is Gain - this is the message of the letter. Therefore, our lives should be lived to Him, through Him, for Him, with Him, about Him - everything should be about Jesus.
