Historia
People are drawn to libraries for all kinds of reasons. Most come for the books themselves, of course; some come to borrow companionship. For head librarian Kit, the public library in Riverton, New Hampshire, offers what she craves most: peace. Here, no one expects Kit to talk about the calamitous events that catapulted her out of what she thought was a settled, suburban life. She can simply submerge herself in her beloved books and try to forget her problems. But that changes when 15-year-old, home-schooled Sunny gets arrested for shoplifting a dictionary.

Enjoyable read
Revisado: 07-20-24
I wasn’t sure I would enjoy this book, but I found it very enjoyable. It’s light reading, But it isn’t silly or trite. The characters all developed, by the end of the book, into new versions of themselves (with the exception of the older men). I would be happy to recommend this book to anyone looking for an enjoyable light read.

Not What I Expected
Revisado: 02-03-24
As I listened, I thought I knew where the activity was taking place. The characters were well drawn, they were multidimensional. The story carried me through to the very end, which was not what I expected, I will be happy to recommend this book to friends and family.

In 1873, a Cheyenne chief offers President Grant the opportunity to exchange one thousand horses for one thousand White women, in order to marry them with his warriors and create a lasting peace. Not for Anyone Who Read Book 1
Revisado: 01-14-24
This book should not be purchased by anyone who read book one. It is pretty much a waste of your money and a waste of your time. Book one was good. Book two was alright. I don’t have enough life to listen to this book which is third in the series. Read something new instead of this.

Excellent
Revisado: 08-18-23
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book from beginning right through to the end. There were several points when I felt sure I knew what the resolution would be. However, I had to reevaluate my sense of the action as the story moved along. Not only did the book hold my attention all the way through; amazingly, I do not feel the book was too long or too short. That is why I believe this book is excellent.

Historia
From the day that old Nana Reja found a baby abandoned under a bridge, the life of a small Mexican town forever changed. Disfigured and covered in a blanket of bees, little Simonopio is for some locals the stuff of superstition, a child kissed by the devil. But he is welcomed by landowners Francisco and Beatriz Morales, who adopt him and care for him. As he grows up, Simonopio becomes a cause for wonder to the Morales family, because when the uncannily gifted child closes his eyes, he can see what no one else can - visions of all that’s yet to come, both beautiful and dangerous.

Amazing
Revisado: 04-18-23
The Murmur of Bees is an amazing book I don’t generally write reviews. I would encourage everyone to listen to or to read this book. There were a few laughs in the beginning the book and plenty of tears at the end. I understand this was the first book by Sofia Segovia to be translated into English. Hopefully others have been or will be translated into English. I am so glad I had the opportunity to listen to the story of The Murmur of Bees.

Interesting story
Revisado: 09-09-22
An interesting story, this book adds a different twist to familiar themes. The book was a little bit longer than it needed to be. I feel that there was repetition of the characters’ background information that was unnecessary. I don’t wish to give anything away, therefore, the only other comment I will make is that the voices of the characters were not consistent.

Historia
After years of trying to make it as a writer in 1990s New York City, James Smale finally sells his novel to an editor at a major publishing house: none other than Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Jackie - or Mrs. Onassis, as she's known in the office - has fallen in love with James' candidly autobiographical novel, one that exposes his own dysfunctional family. But when the book's forthcoming publication threatens to unravel already fragile relationships, both within his family and with his partner, James finds that he can't bring himself to finish the manuscript.

Whining. Hours and hours of whining.
Revisado: 05-17-21
I don’t think I’m quite to the middle of the story yet but I am really annoyed. It is like listening to this man whine on and on about everything. I mean everything. Even describing where he is sounds like he’s whining. Somebody else should have performed this book.

Historia
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.
