If I had time to read, I would prefer that to listening

I think I would have liked this a lot more if I had read this rather than listened. I don’t necessarily think the narrator is bad, but just bad for this book. She definitely gets better about 2/3 of the way through but her voice of Liam really took me out of it. The way I would have read certain inflections and tones of voice are not how she read it - and I can’t say I’ve ever felt this way about a narrators interpretation before. The story was good, and since I spend most of my life out and about I will be listening to the next books

A great follow up to the first book

I really like this series. The story is similar to the first book but following the younger sister. She is unapologetically her own person, and although she’s a bit annoying at the beginning of the book I came to find her endearing. Excited for the next book!

I didn’t like this as much as past books

I really enjoyed the other books but this one I felt like I had constant whiplash with the drama going all over the place sometimes seeming too ridiculous. I also went from loving the main characters to getting the ick. I like the overarching story and where it’s going, I’ll definitely pick up the next book. Hopefully the wait will mean the story is more refined

I was hesitant to read this because I’m not usually into sci if, but after reading the Bobiverse series I thought I would try it. I honestly loved this book, the story is great and so is the narration.

Great characters

I often find characters in this book genera to be so frustrating, and this was not the case here. The ‘I’m not good enough’ dilemma they always go through was absent here which I appreciated. I loved the story, the characters, the humor and performance!

Overall interesting and educational

I really enjoyed this book as I know little about Napoleon or Marie Louise. Having read many of Michelle Moran's other books, this one was not my favorite. That speaks more to how good the others were than puts this book down. I wish there was more detail about Napoleons battles, but the book is more about the perspective from his court than him. Some reviews put down the performance but I really liked it. I thought the book was well told but the narrators, and despite accents, I had no trouble understanding anything that was said. Over all I would recommend this book!

Really incredible account of the French Revolution

Although I didn't love this book as much as I did the Heritic Queen or Nefertiti, I thought account of history for both the main character and especially the French Revolution was incredible. If you like historical fiction, recommend this book.
