Brilliant memoir; advice sadly unheeded

This is a brilliant memoir. I'm not a fan of the family's politics but her life story is interesting, and I respect her solidity, ethics and phenomenal dedication very much.
Cheney's historical insights about Jan 6 and the process of its investigation are pure gold. It is tragic, to say the least, that her advice was unheeded by so many of us.

The best thing about this novel is Ira Levin, who writes so transparently that the story tells itself. The author's voice isn't there, leaving us a clearly understood and genuinely experienced reality we effortlessly believe in.
Great book from the author of my favorite creepy story of horrific witchery, Levin's masterpiece, Rosemary's Baby.

The problem is... I can't get anyone else to read this book. I try to explain what it is--and how important it really is--but either people don't care or they smile and say "more conspiracy theories, huh?". People don't see it, feel it, get it, because they don't believe anything anymore.
People don't know what to believe. Trump's steady stream of lies, dodges and disinformation, for a decade now, amplified by social media and Fox News, has ruined everything.

This just goes on and on, all over the place--it's too much and soon becomes tiring to listen to.
That said, the fine podcast this was drawn from is perfect.

An interesting fellow and a fascinating life. And I learned a lot here!
I can't imagine working in that field, on that level, under all kinds of pressures, including political, and dealing with such biological challenges and dangers. These guys are heroes, and Fauci is a prince among them.
Btw, can someone (or Audible) post the URL Fauci mentions at the end of the book? Unfortunately I can't understand what he said.

Classic space adventure by one of the masters, Norton really knew how to spin a good yarn. Her writing is of a different era--it shows, and is very welcome.
Note that this is actually TWO books: "The Time Traders" and its sequel, "Galactic Derelict". Note too that the other Time Traders selection here on Audible also contains multiple novels, and completes the series.

It's all here. Everything you always wanted to know about disinformation--what it means, who's disseminating it, how it propagates, what its real world implications and effects are, and how it can be dealt with if not cured*-- but were afraid to ask
Barbara McQuade delivers on everything the book promises with great research and memory of, and attention to, details. AND she's a great reader too. Get this! (And no, I don't work for them.)
* Note the inspired and inspiring Chapter 9: "We Alone Can Fix It: Proposed Solutions".

Solid Zelazny in the tradition of Leiber and Vance

Short stories are a blast. You can read one at one sitting, and make it to the finale in no time. Thus, gratification comes quickly and this propels a collection.

Zelazny's ideas, characters, world-building and a kind of prose that deftly moves between "reality" and a dreamlike sort of poetic style that, while being (maybe) a bit distracting for some listeners/readers, is rather luxurious. I mentioned Leiber and Vance. That's where this collection nestles though they, and particularly Jack Vance in this comparison, remain masters unthreatened.

But yeah--with great dialog too that gets better from story to story, particularly between half-elven Dilvish and his metallic demon-horse, Black. You'll enjoy that. Also, as is the Zelazny tradition, and that of Swords & Sorcery in general I guess, there are skirmishes and swordplay. Something that Zelazny writes very well. Some fantasy authors botch this, often embarrassingly. Bot not Rog, who I suspect had some experience himself.

I've read this book and its sequel before so I can easily say that if you like this one, you'll love the second (The Changing Land), which is even better. (This revenge story really kicks in.) Oh! And the narrator is just fine, which is a blessing.

A good listen. Terrific lecturer/writer. Explores aspects I'd never thought of.
One movie I'd recommend is the Canadian zombie infection film called "Pontypool". In this case, a ghastly cannibal zombie infection is spreading. The local radio station is attempting to report it, track it, get ahead of it. It turns out that the infection is transmitted by words. By the language. Certain words have become infected. It's really interesting --and creepy.
An excellent audio/radio drama was put together from the soundtrack from the film. It was released free on the net.

The only folks who would find this book biased are see no evil hear no evil Trump supporters incapable of objectivity who can't handle any comparisons or criticisms of Trump at all, ever--and to such a degree that they are calling for Civil War now. Overreaction much?
This is a great history book. I'm learning new things. There's much here to absorb. I'm listening to some parts again. This read moves briskly, which is good. Chloe Cannon, the narrator, does a fine job.
