I really enjoyed this book. I learned a lot from it and research about the dangers of not sleeping is phenomenal.
the reason I gave this 4 stars is this. I am a person who really struggled to sleep. my life causes me to be awake at times that I really should be sleeping. The book talks about this and gives us warnings about the serious effects on our selves and others. i agree totally with what it says. however I now feel doomed and the dangerous thing is the power of belief and a self fulfilling prophecy.
there is a very short conclusion at the end of the book as to what we can and should do to sleep better, looking at things like prior bed time activity, routine, diet, exercise and what we should and shouldn't have in our bed room. I should have liked some research presented about that too.
I have found some things helpful such as herbal remedies like melatonin, 5htp. and also the use of white sound such as rain and thunder. These things have transformed my sleep patterns and I have gone from broken nights of 3 to 5 hours to 6 to 8 hours of unbroken sleep.
I hope the author will write a book about help for people who struggle for years like I did.
the book is really worth reading and I would like to thank the author, as his seriousness in the subject really inspired me to find answers for myself.
