In the chaotic aftermath of World War II, American college girl Charlie St. Clair is pregnant, unmarried, and on the verge of being thrown out of her very proper family. Fantastic book and fantastic performance!

I love Historical Fiction and this book did not disappoint. The narrator’s accents made the story even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Historia
Jacob Finch Bonner was once a promising young novelist with a respectably published first book. Today, he’s teaching in a third-rate MFA program and struggling to maintain what’s left of his self-respect; he hasn’t written—let alone published—anything decent in years. When Evan Parker, his most arrogant student, announces he doesn’t need Jake’s help because the plot of his book in progress is a sure thing, Jake is prepared to dismiss the boast as typical amateur narcissism. But then...he hears the plot.

LISTEN TO/READ THIS BOOK!
The author does a great job of not letting you know where things are going. You might have and idea, but you’re probably wrong. Or at least I was! Enjoy!

Historia
Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

Do not miss this book!
Revisado: 01-10-23
I’ve listened to this twice now. JK Simmons does such a great job of capturing Ove’s gruff exterior and how all the people around him chip away at it. Getting to know Öve through the book from his backstory is endearing. I have laughed out loud too many times to count and when I was done with the book I wanted to start all over again!

Historia
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

Enjoyed it.
Revisado: 07-11-15
What did you love best about The Girl on the Train?
The raw characters.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Sometimes, yes. Other times I was annoyed that some of these characters were so lame as people. I think that is what the author was going for, but that kinda bugged me.
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
All female readers. They do the voices for their significant others and other people they encounter and that was interesting to me. I always knew whose part of the story was happening by the voice that was speaking.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. I needed a break from their flaws ;)

Historia
Ed Kennedy is an underage cabdriver without much of a future. He's pathetic at playing cards, hopelessly in love with his best friend, Audrey, and utterly devoted to his coffee-drinking dog, the Doorman. His life is one of peaceful routine and incompetence, until he inadvertently stops a bank robbery.

Awesome book and great reader!
Revisado: 12-28-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, and have already done so. It is a great storyline and I loved the narration by Gray. He had a way of making me believe Ed was right in my ears.
Which scene was your favorite?
Any scene with the Doorman in it. I love dogs, and this one was particularly fun to imagine talking back to Ed
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The moments Ed had with the older lady were very touching...reminded the listener how human Ed was...reminded you he was a good guy.
Any additional comments?
Get this one. Well worth it.

Historia
On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge.

Good story, a little vulgar for me
Revisado: 12-28-12
Would you try another book from Gillian Flynn and/or Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne ?
Don't know if I'll go looking for one by Flynn. Her writing was a little "in your face" for my taste. I did, however, like the twist in the middle. Very much caught me off guard.
Any additional comments?
I am not a prude, by any means, but I was a little put off by how many times I listened to so many words that I don't usually say. I don't know if it was more offensive listening to it or if I had read the words on a page, but if this isn't something you want to hear, don't download it. It is prominent.
