Historia
Gene Kranz was present at the creation of America's manned space program and was a key player in it for three decades. As a flight director in NASA's Mission Control, Kranz witnessed firsthand the making of history. He participated in the space program from the early days of the Mercury program to the last Apollo mission, and beyond. He endured the disastrous first years when rockets blew up and the United States seemed to fall further behind the Soviet Union in the space race.

Historia
The year was 1935: the twilight of the English aristocracy. It was a time of wealth and glamour; of lavish balls and evening gowns; of tiaras and a coronation. As personal maid to Lady Coventry, Hilda Newman had a unique insight into the leisured life of one of Britain's most noble families. In her fascinating memoir of life upstairs and down, Hilda takes us back to this period between the wars; a gilded era which would soon be dramatically changed by the Second World War.

This book was a bliss to listen to.
The only thing I could say was a minus is that it was far too short.
I am sure this lady's lifes story had SO much more that could have been put in.
But I'm happy she wrote it.
What a lovely and impotant piece of history!

Historia
The 15th century Romanian Prince Vlad III Dracula, also known as Vlad the Impaler, is one of the most fascinating personalities of medieval history. Already during his own lifetime, his true story became obscured by a veil of myths. As a result, he has been portrayed both as a bloody tyrant - who degenerated down throughout the centuries into the fictional vampire of the same name created by Bram Stoker at the end of the 19th century - and as a national and Christian hero who bravely fought to defend his native land and all of Europe against the invading Turkish infidels.

The Definitive Biography of the Historical Dracula

Just a mess.
Revisado: 08-22-21
Main problem with this audio is the narrator who reads page after page like there are no commas, end of sentenses nor any emotion. Like listening to a computer. Such a shame because this sinks sthe *ship* totally. Had a hard time finishing this one. Tryed 5 times. Fell asleep every time and had to start over. What a mess!
So looking forward to it but now regret buying it. Why ever they picked this narrator is a mystery to me. Can"t get any worse than this.

Historia
Byzantium is too-often considered merely the "eastern rump" of the old Roman Empire, a curious and even unsettling mix of the classical and medieval. Yet it was, according to Professor Harl, "without a doubt the greatest state in Christendom through much of the Middle Ages," and well worth our attention as a way to widen our perspective on everything from the decline of imperial Rome to the rise of the Renaissance.

Very good courses BUT...
Revisado: 12-20-18
Painful to listen to!
While Mr. Harl gives us great courses with tons of information in a splendid way story wise he should have taken a huge step back when delivering it to Audible. Let someone else narrate everything. I simply had to turn it all off after just 10 minutes into the course.
Mr. Harl screams untill my ears hurt and is overly dramatic. Aggressive.
This style might be good on a theater stage without a mic.
Perhaps this is the American way of ”entertaining” but I think the topic and story speaks well enough for itself.
This is not a theater nor a school room for 500 students with bad hearing, right? This is Audible (or rather not ”audible” really).
Such a shame!

Historia
In 2003, a Roper Organization survey revealed that 33 million Americans may be abductees. Aliens in the Backyard is their story. One evening in 1981, Connie J Cannon was on I-75 with her young son, en route to their new home in Florida, when they suddenly found themselves on a military base, with a man in uniform holding a gun to her head as three Grays stood nearby. In 1979, Diane Fine was on her way from upstate New York to Vermont to see an obstetrics specialist for her high risk pregnancy, and experienced two hours of missing time. When she was finally examined at the clinic, she was told wasn't pregnant.

Scattered and negative with incorrect facts.
Revisado: 10-27-15
I found this book quite scattered info-wise. A little story here, a little story there. Overall not really much new on this subject other than repeating negative input on abductions.
These stories deserve indepth analysing by proper, holistic/regression hypnotherapists and so on.
This is why I prefere authors like Dolores Cannon for instance, where regressions and putting together (at first look on the surface) fragmented information is filled by fear and the ego is put aside where you get a more comprehensive grip on what actually happens, why etc. Both for the ousider and the "abductee" him/herself.
The author mixes both stories on sightings, abductions and convensional law of our physics when we (today) have come to know so much more theoretically.
All this above written in one big mess which leads to....not much of anything, really. Except what we already know.
There are far better work out there.
For a person who knows close to nothing on this subject this book might be interesting. But not much more than that.
Besides, it will probably leave one feeling mixed up, or even worse....fearfull.
In this book there are also some false conclusions based on incorrect facts here and there which is rather irritating.
If you want the REAL stuff, get abook or two by Dolores Cannon when it comes to regression hypnotherapy and UFO's.
On UFO's and geo politics read a book by Lesley Kean!
Then you will get somewhere.

If you REALLY want to know what happend, read this book!
Revisado: 06-08-15
I've read Krakouer's book and after his I read this one on the same subject. I thought I had got it rather ok firstly but some stuff didn't sound logical to me. It did'nt add up. After reading this book I actually got it. Things made more sense. Boukareev, a true hero, shares his own words on what happend during the disaster 1996 and also describes what a sorry circus climbing mount Everest now has become. This brave man should be heared. I wish there were more genuine climbers out there with both the right intentions and true a heart, like Boukareev. May he now rest in peace!

Historia
At 28,251 feet, the world's second-tallest mountain, K2 thrusts skyward out of the Karakoram Range of northern Pakistan. Climbers regard it as the ultimate achievement in mountaineering, with good reason. Four times as deadly as Everest, K2 has claimed the lives of seventy-seven climbers since 1954. In August 2008 eleven climbers died in a single thirty-six-hour period on K2–the worst single-event tragedy in the mountain's history and the second-worst in the long chronicle of mountaineering in the Himalaya and Karakoram ranges.

Facinating and educational!
Revisado: 01-17-15
Clear headed, well balanced writing that includes historical story telling about this facinating mountain and the human persuits of climbing it from beginning. Ed's personal endevours are painted with a humble and realistic touch that leaves me full of awe and respect of the natures wonders (in this case the awsome K2). Also that the human ego has no place in it.
