It’s a slow burn

Honestly a little too slow of a burn for my taste but still so good. The world building and magic system is interesting and well thought out. It’s felt a little lengthy and I found myself kicking up the speed to get to the good parts. Good read though and now I’m dying for the 4th book to come out. What a cliff hanger!

Quickly hooked

A pace that immediately engaged me and kept me engaged. Interesting fantasy world. Fiery FMC I felt it was easy to relate too. Excited to start the next one!

Keeps getting better

I love this series and this is one of the best in it. You get to delve deeper into the relationships and world building. You meet new characters but not too many to confuse you. They are fleshed out and developed really well. Supporting characters have just as much depth as main ones. It catches your attention and draws you in immediately. There are some amazing character arcs and friendship arcs. You see the main character go through trauma and come out the other end of it. Love this series and love that narrator of it. She does an amazing job.

The character building in this book is amazing. The background stories are heartbreaking. Some people say this book is slow in the series but I was immediately hooked! This is the second time I’ve listened to it. The narrator is amazing. Her voice fits the characters so well.

A book about hardship and finding your way

The book was a little darker and sadder than I was expecting it to be but was very good. There is a lot of drama and the characters are written in a way that makes them feel relatable and you can feel their pain. TW for domestic violence and abuse.

Good but a lot of loose ends

I know there are 2 more books in the series but this book left so many things unfinished. I was hoping there would be a little more tied up instead of more left open ended. It was still worth reading and there are some really great stories and character development in there (Sawyer and Riddoc are MVP) but I was hoping for more as I loved the first 2 books. It quickly glazed over things I thought needed a little more explanation so I feel a little lost. I’m a little underwhelmed and I’m not left feeling this amazing and exciting cliffhanger like in IF more of a feeling of a unsatisfied cliffhanger. Still a good read but was hoping for more.

Liked it so much I listened to it twice!

She does a great job building their world, developing the characters and relationships, and then breaking your heart. So many little Easter eggs in there when you listen to it the second time! If you’re looking for a shadow daddy, Xaddy if you will, this one hits the mark. Strong female characters and friendships, which I love!

A nice, easy read

I used this as a palate cleanser after listening to a few hefty series and was feeling a little burnt out. It was just what I was looking for. A nice, happy listen. The narrators voice is great. Definitely recommend if you want a cheery, uplifting read.

Sexy easy listen

This was a fun, sexy read. The male narrators voice fit the character perfectly. I wish the conflict they faced would have been a little more substantial and longer. It was such a quick part. Loved the characters but wish there was a little more substance in the book. Happily would have listened to another hour or two of their story.

Pulled me in

The narrator did an amazing job with the different voices. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. The FMC and MMC developed funny and sassy banter. The character development were well thought out and you could feel the deep relationships and love between characters.
