Historia
J. Robert Oppenheimer was one of the iconic figures of the 20th century, a brilliant physicist who led the effort to build the atomic bomb but later confronted the moral consequences of scientific progress. When he proposed international controls over atomic materials, opposed the development of the hydrogen bomb, and criticized plans for a nuclear war, his ideas were anathema to powerful advocates of a massive nuclear buildup during the anti-Communist hysteria of the early 1950s.

Phenomenal story, well written

Great book, I really got a lot out of it. Only critique is that the audio recording is odd. It goes in and out in volume.

Historia
In December 1937, in the capital of China, one of the most brutal massacres in the long annals of wartime barbarity occurred. The Japanese army swept into the ancient city of Nanking and within weeks not only looted and burned the defenseless city but systematically raped, tortured and murdered more than 300,000 Chinese civilians. Amazingly, the story of this atrocity- one of the worst in world history- continues to be denied by the Japanese government.

Tragic, but an important read
Revisado: 07-14-23
This was clearly well researched and put together. If I ever get into history teaching, this will be a mandatory read.

Historia
SHILOH, 1862 - The Battle of Shiloh, fought in the wilderness of southern Tennessee in April 1862, marked a violent crossroads in the Civil War. What began as a surprise attack by Confederate troops on a Union stronghold to gain control of the Mississippi River Valley became a bloody two-day conflict that would eerily foretell the brutal reality of the next three years.

Good for beginners
Revisado: 04-21-23
If you know a lot about the war, this isn’t the book to dive into the battle of Shiloh. If your not familiar with the war or the western theater, this is a great book as the author gives plenty of prolog and explains a lot of the basics.

Must listen
Revisado: 12-13-22
The voice acting is great, and actually helpful to the story line. It helps differentiate between Mort and Death and Mort as Death.

Historia
Based on the rare and until now overlooked journal of a Renaissance-era executioner, the noted historian Joel F. Harrington's The Faithful Executioner takes us deep inside the alien world and thinking of Meister Frantz Schmidt of Nuremberg, who, during 45 years as a professional executioner, personally put to death 394 individuals and tortured, flogged, or disfigured many hundreds more. But the picture that emerges of Schmidt from his personal papers is not that of a monster. Could a man who routinely practiced such cruelty also be insightful?

Fantastic book, tech glitches
Revisado: 01-29-21
Loved the book. Such a fascinating amazing leader. Good performance, but not as good as the guy who did the first book.
There is a tech issue in that it periodic repeats a sentence. Maybe look into that.
